I'm in sleeping hell...

So my great little sleeper has gone from STTN since she was not even 2 months (9-7) to barely sleeping at all the past 3 nights.  I thought she was just thrown off since we were up at my parents' house (but that's never been a problem before) but now I don't know.  She is still going down around 9 but last night she was up at 12:30 and again at 1:45 until I finally brought her to bed with us (so that meant I didn't sleep) until she woke up at 6.  The night before last she was up 5-6 times.  She didn't even do this when she was a newborn!

She is still swaddled, although it is getting kind of small and we need to buy the bigger size.  Her daytime sleep hasn't changed at all.  I read on kellymom about the 4 month wakeful period but I don't think it is that since she is still eating great during the day.  Actually, she's been eating about every 2 hours and normally goes 3-4 easily.  Could it be a growth spurt?  I'm just trying to figure this out because we are supposed to be leaving for CT tomorrow and I'm not going if she is still like this.  We are staying with my husband's best friend who has 2 other roommates and they all have girlfriends hanging around and I'm sure it is just going to be a zoo.  Any ideas?  HELP!!!!

Re: I'm in sleeping hell...

  • Ughhh that is tough!  I feel your pain and am just as clueless as you!  Last night Jack woke up for the first time in a few weeks, and the days prior he slept so long it worried me haha...I know that when we have company(which seems like all the time these days) he doesn't sleep as well...I would still go, but be prepared for a possibly cranky baby with all the comotion...and don't feel bad about not allowing people to hold her ALL the time!  I had a hard time with that with my IL's b/c they think they are entitled to hold him 24-7, but I've asked them to hand him over on numerous occassions when he is alseep b/c he needs to nap in his bed for more restful sleep and he needs to stay used to it!  So stay strong and good luck my dear!
  • Its definately possible that its a growth spurt.  There is one that occurs around 3 months.. but each kid hits them differently.   But where shes eating more.. I would say thats it.   Theres not much you're going to do other than accomodate her frequent feedings.  GL!!  = )

  • There's something actually called the 4 month sleep regression. ?That's when all hell broke loose for us - if you google it, you will find lots of people talking about it! ?It totally sucks, but it is normal.
  • Owen also regressed in his sleeping habits at 4 months.  Right after his shots actually.  It sucked, he is just starting to sleep again for 6 hours his first stint.  I must be crazy cuz it doesn't bother me too much, I take him from his crib, nurse him, then put him in the cosleeper.
