Moms - preschool recommendations?
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for preschool / Mother's Day Out recommendations for my twin girls. I think I'm already way behind in getting them on a waitlist, but I figure I'll start trying right now. I live in the Sylvan Park area and so I'd like to find something in West Nashville/West End area, but could travel to Brentwood as well. I'm hoping to find a part-time, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. kind of thing for them, 2-3 days per week.
Thanks!
Katie
Re: Moms - preschool recommendations?
I used to work at Westminster Toddlers & Twos. It is a great program. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions (kyradoherty@yahoo.com). They do usually have a waiting list, though. Blakemore United Methodist & St. George's have good programs too (both on West End).
You can use this site to locate quality programs organized by zip code: http://www.state.tn.us/humanserv/childcare/19/prov.htm The system is a voluntary rating system centers can choose to participate in. They can earn 1, 2, or 3 stars. Each star indicates the quality of the program above & beyond the minimum requirements for state licensing.
That may be more that you were looking for but I hope it helps!

We loved the Gardner School when we had Parker there full-time for daycare (we've since switched to a nanny since I can work from home full-time and am due with #2 next month). I would love for him to do TGS preschool part-time starting at 3 yrs (he turns 2 in Sept), but I am guessing the wait list is already quite long.
When we used to live in Sylvan Park, I had thought about putting him into West End United Methodist's program. I have heard great things about it and it would be really convinient from SP. Also, there are a few churches on Hillsboro that have Mother's Day Out programs (I think most MDO are through churches vs. more traditional "preschools" / daycare centers).
Anywhere "good" is likely to have quite a long wait list or at least that's been my experience. I'd start calling around, visiting and getting on the lists ASAP!
We don't have DD in preschool yet, but we go to the West End Church of Christ in Nashville, and they have the Children's Christian Center which is operated out of their facility. Most of the kids there don't go to the church, and they have options from 2-5 days/week for 2-3 year olds. It's where we plan to send DD when she's older.
