Holiday dish storage

We have dishes we use only at Thanksgiving. We've been storing them in the boxes they came in, but they are big, hard to move, and just cumbersome. Plus, there are dishes we don't use in the boxes (like mugs).
Any suggestions on how to store these dishes safely but that isn't so cumbersome or a waste of space?

What about transferring what you use to something like this, and leaving the stuff you don't use in the original box.
