xp natural bug repellent question

Hi there, I usually post on the Seattle boards but I'm actually here in Vancouver and since this area is pretty  green friendly, I was wondering if maybe some of you ladies could answer my question. (I've also posted this on the cleaning board too, just waiting for feedback...)

I'm fairly new to the whole natural/green cleaning thing and had a question about using essential oils for spider repellent.

I've found a recipe that that calls for either citronella, lavender, cinnamon, peppermint, citrus or tea tree oil mixed with water and a bit of soap so I was wondering if one works any better than the others?

I haven't yet found anything through googling that says one is better than the other... any advice would be appreciated. :)

TIA

Re: xp natural bug repellent question

  • I can't help you with the oils, but I might have something useful. I'm not sure where you're trying to repel bugs from, but we bought one of the "repellers" that you plug in to an electrical outlet. When we first moved into our house we had 10+ spiders a week showing up. We went to Home Depot and got one of the ultra sonic (I think that's what it is) units to plug into the wall, that was maybe 2 1/2 years ago and we've probably had 10 spiders total since then. It seems to work great and we don't even notice it's there. HTH!
