I have off the second week in dec, so I'm figuring I'll start putting my cmas stuff out then. you?

Re: when do you start decorating for the holidays?

  • I do all of my decorating for Christmas either the day after Thanksgiving or that weekend. And I take it down a few days after the new year.

  • usually not until 2nd week in december because there is so much going on, but this year we will be decorated by dec 1 for my holiday mary kay open house.
  • My mom and I always decorate the first day of hunting season while all the men are away :o)

  • I'm putting my Christmas things up Thanksgiving weekend, I can't wait. I still have most of my fall things up except for the Halloween themed things.
  • I love decorating for Fall so I try to keep that up as long as possible...my pumpkins outside aren't looking so hot right now though, but I refuse to toss them until Thanksgiving!  Then depending on how long we're out shopping on Black Friday, sometimes I start decorating for Christmas that day or I drag it out over the weekend.  I like to have it up by Dec. 1st at the latest.
  • We usually decorate Thanksgiving weekend.  But we are moving to North Carolina...the movers come to pack us up on Monday!  We are crossing our fingers that our stuff will be delivered by the movers right before Thanksgiving.  That way we can spend the weekend unpacking/organizing our house and hopefully get our Christmas decorations done as well!

  • We normally decorate Thanksgiving weekend.. we go on our annual sleigh ride to a farm and then climb up a steep hill and cut down a tree that I swear looks small up there and then get it home to find out it takes up my whole wall but it's always beautiful  I can't wait to start decorating especially after I got a ton of cute Christmas stuff at Christmas Tree Shoppe today.
  • I like the keep fall decorations up through Thanksgiving.  Then we decorate for winter/Christmas after Thanksgiving and then the following weekend depending on our schedules.

  • This is our first Christmas together, so we are kind of figuring things like that out as we go along.  We are hosting Thanksgiving this year, and we want our families to get a chance to see or Christmas decorations, so as odd as it may be, I think we are going to decorate a few days before Thanksgiving.
  • Normally we'd do all that sometime in December...often the 2nd or 3rd week. This year we;ll be decorating probably either Thanksgiving weekend or the week after. With the little one due at Christmas and our first year here in TX together (last year I was still in PA and DH had to fly up for the holidays) and my mom coming down for the holiday/baby, we're decorating early.

  • I usually mean to do it Thanksgiving weekend, but a lot of years, I've been so busy that I don't get around to it until right before Christmas. By then, I don't even bother half the time unless we're having company. Last year we had our families over for Christmas Eve and we were running around like crazy that morning trying to cook/clean/decorate.  I swear I'm not going to let that happen again this year!

  • Day after Turkey Day! :)  We're actually going to put our lights up sooner (but not light them) since we're having such gorgeous weather! (who wants to put lights up when you can't feel your fingers, anyway?) :)

We keep it up til after New Years.

  • This is our first Christmas married & living together, but we are planning to do our decorating the day after Thanksgiving and that whole weekend.  DH took off the day after Thanksgiving with me this year to do so.  :) Cant wait. Im so excited it being our first Christmas living there.  We had things up for Halloween, we have our Thanksgiving stuff down from the attic, just havent put anything up yet, we've been so busy!  Probably leave things up til right after the New Year. We are planning to have New Years Day at our house this year... first holiday hosting at our place. oh my!

  • All our Christmas stuff was up on holloween! My husband is a christmas freak! We actually keep some stuff up all year long. But 9:00 pm Holloween we put up the tree (artificial of course) and all the rest of the decor. We are hoping to get the outside done soon. My DH puts up x-mas lights outside as his job so sometimes we don't get ours done cuz he is super busy.

  • In the past, I lied to get my tree up around the first or second week of December. But this year I'm trying to minimize the non-essential parts of Christmas and maximize the parts that are most meaningful to us (I hate that what should be the best part of the year gets so stressful, mainly with buying presents we can't afford.).  We're going to try to focus on the anticipation and waiting through Advent and get a real tree on the 20th. If we can hold out, we might even wait to decorate it until the 23rd or 24th, then keep it up through New Years.
