Whole Foods or Trader Joes.

I know Whole Foods just opened, but I stil think my loyalty is going to lie with Trader Joe's, maybe it's just me, but I still like it better.

Thoughts?

  • I don't think it'll make a difference for me. I rarely go to Trader Joes anyway!

  • I'm a Trader Joe's girl and I like Trader Joe's prices.  I'll peek over at Whole Foods, but I don't think I'll be a convert.

  • TJ's for me! It's not in my budget to be a Whole Foods converst but like Mona said I'll peek over there once in a while. Love their tuna sandwich!
  • i'm blessed to have both within 10 minutes of my apartment!  whole foods is about a mile away, but i trek to TJs.  they actually have good buys instead of just overpriced stuff., imho!
  • I love Trader Joes.  Anything I would buy at Whole Foods I can find else where for less.
  • Went to Whole Foods today...most of the items that I buy I can get in other places for much lower prices. They had a few (VERY FEW) items that I can only get there, so I can see me stopping there once a month or so.  It will not be my store.

TJ's is my first true love...and will likely be my last.

I was grossed out by the food bar...people are so flarkin nasty.

I noticed that, DH wanted stuffed grape leaves, and I said......uummmm NO!!!

  • I don't think we have a Whole Foods around here so I voted Trader Joes.

  • I don't have either near me. :(  I've only ever been to TJs about twice, but I'd like to have one nearby.
  • Hi there,

TJ's all the way.  The new Whole Foods was a ZOO yesterday and today.  DH wanted his favorite muffins, so I braved the crowds.  =)

  • It really depends, TJs is cheaper for a lot of things, but if I'm going to buy fresh fish, WF, hands down - despite the price tag - it just seems so much fresher than anywhere else I've seen.
  • I am a WF girl.  I don't get meat there b/c of the price, but the produce is just sooo fresh.  But I do go to the store in WH which isn't crazy anymore.  I feel like I never find that must stuff at TJ...but maybe its just the location I go to.

  • I can't choose just one.  Trader Joe's is definitely less expensive and there are many things that I only buy there but I could not shop there exclusively.  I've had bad luck with their produce in the past and I hate how so much of it has extra packaging.
  • I swear by TJs alllllll the way 9I know, I am so so late responding to this.

the WH in Glastonbury opened about a year and a half ago and we can walk there and we used to go once a month or so but its so so expensive and really, for what? We do not buy organic produce, I really don't see what the hype is about regardless of what I read/hear on the news.  TJs has amazing prices on pretty much everything. I get all of our chicken there (we keep kosher) and its at least $1.50/lb less than all of the other places in West Hartford. I also have come to love TJs frozen fish section. I am SO against frozen fish but it is just so so good. We get the Mahi and the Ahi, the prices are REDICULOUS I feel like I am robbing the place when I can get fish for dinner for both of us for like $4 (total).

I also get the bagged salad there (cheaper than grocery store, even with sales usually) and the big containers of cherry/grape tomatoes for 2.49 can't be beat.

     Ok, I am done
