I know this has been answered before but...

Hello ladies.  Its almost the end of the year and I still haven't had my annual.  I hadn't made the appointment because I wanted to switch from my regular OB to a OBGYN now that I'm a grown up married woman.  lol

Please recommend your doctor.  I'm looking for someone with a good reputation and group they belong to, also very friendly and down to earth and whose office is in downtown, east, or South Orlando.  Also one that delivers at Winnie Palmer.

If you have any great experiences with your doctor please share.  This doctor decision is big for me because I know one day he/she'll be delivering my future children and so I want someone that is a great fit for my husband and I.

Thanks in advance ladies:)

Re: I know this has been answered before but...

  • I have posted this many times, but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my OB.  I see Dr. Bartfield at OB & Gyn Specialists.  www.obandgyn.cc  They are a big practice and I love most of the doctors there.  Dr. Bartfield was my primary doc through both of my pregnancies and he delivered Bryce.  I never liked male OBs before I got pregnant, but ended up really liking him and Dr. Diebel.  If you want a female, Dr. Asaria is awesome too!  They deliver at Winnie Palmer and always have a doctor there, so you know if you go there you will have a doctor from the practice.  They have offices in Winter Park, Oviedo and Orlando.
  • I really love the two OBs I had during my pregnancy - Dr. Parmelee Thatcher and Dr. Emma Fritz from Delaney OB/Gyn. They are both laid back, very nice, and easily handled my complications while putting me to ease. They deliver at Winnie Palmer (great hospital choice on your part, btw!) and their main office is downtown, but Dr. Fritz also takes appointments a couple days a week at her East Orlando office.

When I first started with the group, they only had three doctors which was a huge plus with me because that increased my odds of getting one of my doctors during labor and delivery! They have since added a couple of new doctors, which I was somewhat disappointed to hear. But there are certainly much larger practices in Orlando.

If you aren't opposed to male doctors, I've heard only wonderful things about Dr. Peppy. If I wasn't so dead set on a female doctor, I may have tried his office first.

  • Dr Norman Lamerty @ Physician Associates.  Located at Hoffner and 436 down from the library.  He is my miracel worker.  I was told repeatedly I could never have kids.  I started seeing him and now I am blessed with an 11 month old.  I had many complications getting pg and many complications during pg.  He was AWESOME.  He also delivered Isabella. He said for everything we both had to go thru to get here he wasnt missing that for anything.  lol

     Good Luck!

I also go here (on LeelaH's recommendation). I have only ever seen NP Paula Mix, but she's awesome. They do have many doctors (I think 11), and that actually makes me a bit uncomfortable. Paula Mix does not deliver babies, and I have a chance of being delivered by a doctor that I have never seen because it will be the one that happens to be at the hospital when I'm in labor. They do try to introduce you to everyone, though... they try to get you in to see a different doctor each time you have a maternity appointment. This, however, is the ONLY thing that worries me. I love the practice and the facility. They are professional and efficient. Good luck finding someone that works for you!

PS - I also saw Dr. Yasmine Kareem when she was in Winter Park - she's in Hunter's Creek now and she's awesome.

  • I go to Women caring for Women in East Orlando.  I love love love it.  They never make you wait, it's only women who work there, and they spend tons of time with you.

    Here is the link

  • I recently changed to Dr. Felski in Casselberry...he is seriously awesome, but as a warning...make sure you get the first appt. of the day because he is a talker. My first appt. with him took almost an hour because he wanted to learn everything about me, my history, etc. He can also be a little crass (in a humorous way) which was great because it broke a lot of the tension I had going in.

He delivered my friend's son back in March and she loved the experience. He's very open minded and will work with you (within reason) on your birth preferences, and is also one of the few doctors in the area who will do a VBAC.

I third them! I went to the Winter Park office and saw NP Mary Ballou. She spent a little time talking to me, because of heart meds I am on I have to be careful which pill I am on. She was really knowledgeable about my heart condition (which most primacy docs don't even know about) and was able to find something good that doesn't give me migraines.

  • Thanks for the recommendations ladies I'll surely look into them. I felt funny asking because I know this has been asked a zillion times but I couldn't find it in the posts so thanks again for answering this overly asked question:)
  • I go to The Women's Center.  Dr. Kareem is awesome.  She delivered both of my daughters.  She has 4 office locations, downtown, Hunters Creek, Clermont, and St Cloud.  Good luck!
  • I go to the same office that everyone else was posting about. I love it there. I have been going there since I moved to Florida 9 years ago. Even now that I live in St. Cloud I still go there. I always see Paula Mix. I saw her up until I was 32 weeks pregnant. Then at each appointment I started seeing a different doctor. I was nervous about this but all of them were great. Dr. Bartfield delivered my son at Winnie. I had never met him or saw him before. When I was pregnant I was concerned about that happening but when you are in labor it really just doesn't matter. He introduced himself and put me right at ease.
