Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Secular Charities

Does anyone know of any secular charities that do Angel Tree type stuff for kids this time of the year?  Will Angel Trees vary location to location, or are they largely done by churches or religious charities?  Any national secular charities that help people would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Secular Charities

  • I bet your local temporary emergency services, or low-income resource center would have something like this going on.

You could also try your local food bank, ours is secular (although the volunteers are generally from religious organizations), and they will def. be need ing more food than ever this time of year. It mgiht not be presents for kids, but it would be a meal (or many meals) for kids.

    HTH!

  • Toys for Tots is run by the Marine Corps.
  • Places like the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and other youth organizations will usually have them or be able to point you in the right direction.
