Favorite restaurant in Maine
Looking for recs for Wells, Ogunquit, Kennebunport area. Thanks!
Re: Favorite restaurant in Maine
When we're in that area, I really like Mimmo's on Route 1A in York - it's BYOB and the food is totally authentic Italian.
In Ogunquit, DH and I like to walk the Marginal Way and end up at the Oarweed for chowder and such. And we like the Egg & I for b'fast.
Kennebunkport - we're eaten at Allyson's a couple of times and it's ok - wasn't AWESOME or anything.
Have fun!
One of my top fives places in all of NE is in Kennebunkport called the White Barn Inn. It is top notch but expensive but if you want a nice night out this is the place to go.
Here is the link (they also have rooms...hence the "inn" part)

I also second The Egg & I for breakfast....but get there early, it fills up very quickly with locals as well as visitors. Also in Ogunquit is Arrows is another fine dining place<------ so very yummy!! or MC Perkins Cove, the same guys own both Arrows & MC's.
Where are you staying??
My MIL rented a house in Wells. It's kind of cool because it's the house DH went to when he was young. DH found it online and told his mom about it. Depending on how we like it, we may continue the tradition.
Thanks for the recs. Rob doesn't like fine dining and doesn't like seafood so I stay away from those places. I do like them so somtimes he has to go. Haha. I have always looked at the White Barn Inn, looks amazing!
Yeah, the White Barn Inn is so fantastic but if he doesnt like fine dining then he definitely wont like this place. You can go to The Steakhouse...Jeff loved this place and being a boy from Minnesota where the cows are all grain fed and all steaks are tender that was saying a lot. Also if you go to Wells you HAVE to hit up the Maine Diner, I love their blueberry pancakes!! yummmm
Have a ton of fun. Let me know what you think of the place. Jeff and I are looking for somewhere to take Connor this summer or next summer for a few days and I would like to stay pretty local since I have no vacation time left! lol
I've been going up to Wells for over 20 years so hopefully I can provide some suggestions that you will like. My husband loves Varrano's. It's an Italian restaurant on Mile Rd. Good food and very casual. Bandaloops in Kennenbunkport is a cool steak place. Their really into being organic and range free, which is usually not something I would look for, but we had a great dinner there. You can pick your meat and your sauce. Hurricanes is a good place for a drink during happy hour. Federal Jack is a fun, casual place to have lunch or dinner. It has a great view of the harbor. If you or your husband like microbrew beers, you can order a sampler of 6 beers. It comes on a board and it's 6 large shot glasses of the different beers there. I love Grassinis, but its is pricey. On The Marsh is pricey for dinner, but it's a good place for an after dinner drink and it's a really warm, cozy old house. There is a piano player and tic tac toe boards on the bar. There is always the Wells Dinner in Wells. Very famous. Open for all meals. Torches is on Rt. 1 and it's a great place to have a bite and watch the Sox game. They have a HUGE project screen in the window. My parents went recently and my mother said she had a great burger. There are fire pits outside that you can sit around. We like to go to Maxwells Bar in Ogunquit for a casual dinner and drinks. They have a great martini list. Good place to people watch and watch a game. There is a new martini/tapas restaurant a couple of buildings over that I've been wanting to try. If you want to take a walk over to York, The Cape Neddick Lobster Pound is good and not far from Nebble Light. Mike's on Rt. 1 in Wells is good too for a casual meal. There's also the Wells Steakhouse right there. Warning about the Dunks on Rt., it is always packed! If you go in the morning, give yourself a good 10 minutes to stand in line. There is a new Dunkin Donuts going towards Ogunquit. Last time I was at this one the line moved much quicker. Hope I was hopefully. Page me if you have any questions.
The Steakhouse in Wells is really good. The Maine Diner is yummy for breakfast.
Mimmo's in York is always a fun time and the food is pretty good.
We had a bad experience with Windows on the Water in Kennebunkport. My husband got sick after eating there. I'd stay away.
