Cologne/Scent for DH

With the baby coming this holiday season, DH and I are going to keep gifts for each other to a minimum this year. He is pretty picky about clothes and gadgets and prefers to buy them himself or with me at the store. I was thinking of getting him a new cologne and was wondering if you gals have any suggestions? Last year I got him Armani something....I liked it a lot. This year I'd like to know what to look for when testing.

Any other stocking stuffer ideas would be greatly appreciated as well. And what about your DH? Are you scaling down this holiday season or going all out?

Re: Cologne/Scent for DH

  • My DH isn't big on Cologne but I love the Stetson after shave...It smells up the whole house when he uses it...=)

My MIL still does stockings for us so we don't do them yet..I might look and see if I can find some stuff to put in his with her this year. We will be cutting back a bit this year..I'm going to see if I can talk him into getting new livingroom furniture instead of gifts this year.

  • I love polo black or Burberry london..
  • I got DH the new D&G cologne (the one with Matthew McConhaughey posing seductively on the poster, LOL!) called The One. I absolutely love it, smells really nice. I also got him this one about a year ago, it's called Chic by Carolina Herrera, very nice too.

    HTH!

  • My three favorites are...Vera Wang, The One by Dolce & Gabbana and Subtil by Salvatorre Ferragamo.

  • DH just recently bought Lacoste and seems to really like it. We're keeping our gifts small this year too, so it's forcing me to be a bit creative. DH has recently acquired this new taste for all things fondue, so I'm thinking of getting him a little fondue set. He also really wants the Nikon D5000, but that might be more of an "us" gift since I want it too. Plus, with a new baby in the house, I guess we can justify getting an extra super cool camera that does video and takes amazingly awesome pictures.

  • Oh goodness, men's cologne is my weakness!  Seriously, it can be a total turn on, or total turn off!  LOL  My favs are Polo Blue, Lacoste Essentials, and (oldie but a goodie) CK Eternity.  I like fruity scents.

One of my wishlists items last yr was a fondue, and I love it!  I got the Rival electric set, and it cost $40 I believe at Target.  A few nesties here recommended it also.  You can also check eBay for more economical prices... love that place.

  • DH has sensitive skin, so he sprays colonge on his clothes, but he always uses Armani Code (since 2005). We both like Black Code better (it smelled more masculine), but Armani changed the formula and the name 3 years ago, I believe.

Thanks for the rec! The only place I came up with to check was BBB, but I'm sure it can get pricey. I'll definitely check ebay! :)

PS: they come with their own little pincher fork thingies, right??

  • As for stocking stuffers, CD, DVDs, concert DVD of his fav band, personal / self-made coupons (massage, car wash, breakfast in bed, etc).

This! DH looooves cologne - he also frequently wears Aqua de Gio (which I LOVE - that's my favorite) and Reaction by Kenneth Cole. They all smell clean to me. He also wears Hugo Boss sometimes.

Yes, the forks are included.  But when I have a party and use the fondue, I usually just use wooden skewers.  =)
