Gifts for those that work for you?

If you buy gifts for those that work for you what do you usually buy? I have two girls that work for me and I usually just give gift cards such as Borders, ITunes, etc. at the holidays in a card but I always feel like it isnt a very thoughtful gift.  What do you usually give?

Re: Gifts for those that work for you?

  • As a person who usually receives gift cards from her boss, I love that I can use the gift cards to go buy what I want.

If you want to personalize it a bit more, maybe attach a handwritten note thanking them for their good work over the year.  Smile

  • Last year, I got a GC to Kohls. This year, I got my boss an engraved plate from Wendell August.

  • I have a student staff of 10 - I give mugs with hot chocolate and mini loaf of quick bread, plus a CD compilation of the staffs favorite Christmas songs.  Not much, but acknowledges them and the holiday.

  • I love getting gift cards or food/candy.

One of my former coworkers made fudge every year. Man that was nice ;-P

I made chocolate bark with various things on them last year (some peppermint white chocolate, some dark chocolate with heath and oreo bits). Super easy and cheap but fun and it looks good.

  • i normally get my co-workers gift cards to their favorite stores/restaurant and some homemade goodies.

  • Gifts are always welcome, but when it comes to work situations, don't be afraid to be impersonal. It's better to err on that side than to be too personal. KWIM?
  • I would want gift card/cash, or a free vacation day!

A note telling me how awesome I am would be great too :)

  • I agree with pp about sticking with the gift cards. Maybe that and if they're readers a great book or a book about something they're passionate about (photography, ect).

  • DH gives the people who work under him gift (close to 20 people).  One year he gave them Starbucks gift cards with some homemade biscotti and copycat cranberry bliss bars.

Last year he gave them company jackets, (not too expensive when you buy in bulk), but he tried to pass it off as a gift from corporate.  They were on to him though, and gave him a $150 bottle of wine and some dark chocolate.  They know him well.lol

I guess we need to start thinking about this year's gift.
