Bud Adams fined $250k

...for flipping off the Bills fans after the Titans win on Sunday.  Personally, I think his actions were inappropriate, but if I was a Bills fan I might be more pissed.  $250k fine, though?  I think they're making an example of him.

Re: Bud Adams fined $250k

  • I think this was without a doubt one of the most class-less things I have seen in forever....

  • I have flipped people off while driving and such, but I have never connected flipping people off when I'm cheering/happy.
  • As a Titans fan I'm pissed at how Adams acted. I'm just glad they are actually pulling themselfs together. I do think $250k is a bit much, I would have made him apoligise to the bills team and maybe donate money to a charity of the bill picking.

On other note what is up with how TO acted during the game, What a Punk he should be fined for acting like such an a**

  • As a Bills fan, I really don't know how to react to what he did. We were in it until about the last 11 minutes of the 4th quarter when they scored 24 points on us. I'm not sure why he felt the need to flip off the players, fans, etc. I think it will add fuel to fire. They've become mini-rivals over the years (between the biggest comeback in NFL history and the music-city miracle playoff game). I do agree that $250k is a bit much. Eek! Wasn't the spygate fine $500k? That's why I think $250k is a bit much.

I said in a post last week that I thought TO would go off in the very near future - I was right ;) I will say that the one play - the Titans player clearly pulled his facemask and when on the ground, gave him a little kick to the helmet - so I am OK with TO acting out on that play. As for going off on the coaches, ehhh - he's frustrated and mad. I knew if would happen. I'm more mad about how he completely gave up on 2 plays. He will still fill the seats in B-lo though haha. I'm just suprised he hasn't had a full blow-up on Edwards yet. He may not get his chance to do that if Edwards isn't our starting QB next week, as the Coach hasn't made a decision on that yet.

  • I can't believe he did that...but I think the $250K is a ridiculous amount. Not saying he shouldn't be punished, but that's excessive.

  • I agree that $250k is way too much, either that or the spygate fine was too little (IMO it was).  When Vick flipped off Falcons fans years ago, he got fined $10k.  If you watch the video, it looks like he was either flipping off Bills fans in front of him (because he specifically points), or he's just so pumped that he feels the need the flip the bird.  My little brother and his friends used to do that when they were in middle school.  I never understood it.

I think the NFL is realizing that a 10K fine isn't much of a punishment to a millionaire. It certainly hasn't deterred anyone else.

Whether 250K is excessive or not - I don't know, but honestly, I don't care. I doubt even this much money will induce much if any of a financial hardship, and it may just make the next guy think twice. Also, I can't blame the NFL for wanting to uphold some standards since among other things children attend games and watch them on TV.

  • I just don't understand why he would do that.  He's supposed to be a professional, why not behave like one?
  • I think what makes this really class-less is that for much of the game the COMMISSIONER OF FOOTBALL was sitting with him. The commission went to sit with fans near the end of the game and then BA flipped the fans off.

I think they are making an example out of him...although it probably still isn't very much $$$ to him.

  • Classless, but that's Bud Adams.  I have so many stories from growing up going to Oilers games, he's gross.
