Barnes or MoBap?

Hello all,

I am newer to the city and found out that my obgyn doesn't deliver so as I think of changing OBGYNs I need to think about where I deliver.  Can you all give me your take on either delivering at Barnes or MoBap?

Thanks so much!

Re: Barnes or MoBap?

  • I guess it depends on where you live.  I am delivering at MoBap and I am very happy with the decision. I live in St. Charles and I wouldn't even consider delivering at Barnes. It's so far from me. I suppose if I knew that I had a child with major issues that needed to be at Children's I would reconsider. Otherwise, for me I wouldn't even think about it.
  • I delivered at Barnes.

My first choice was MoBap.  It was further away but when I thought of Barnes I thought gun shot victims not babies.

BUT then I went for a tour of both.  Barnes was HUGE!!  I delivered both of my girls there.

With my 1st we had like 6 people in the delivery room and there was still plenty of room.

The recovery rooms (I think that is what they call them) have 2 beds.  Both times my DH stayed with me.  At MoBap they only have little couches and the rooms are A LOT smaller.

The people were very nice and I had an awesome experience BOTH times!

Also, one of our girls on here is a nurse in the nursery.  You could probably page her "Angelina1003".

    Good luck!

  • Thanks so much!  I am not from here and none of our friends have children so I really appreciate your help.

Reeree76 - Do you have a doctor that you like?  I see a doctor at Barnes now but she doesn't deliver.  I will page Angelina1003.

  • My GYN quit delivering babies.  So she refered me to someone....they do a lot of high risk and multiples BUT I went there for Baby #2 and I wasn't high risk for her.

They are Maternal Fetal Medicine they are located in the CAM building on the corner of Forest Park Parkway and Euclid.

I saw mainly the Nurse Practioner for weeklys.  The drs are great.  I LOVE Dr. Gil Gross and Dr. Abraham Balderici (not sure if that sp is correct)!!!
