So I'm making my list and checking it twice.. Wine Advice

I bought these cute wine holders for Christmas. Any suggestions on good gift wines? Red? White? Other?

  • I love red wine this time of year and my current favorite is Malbec. You'll find it in the South American regions at the liquor store - this is a variety not a brand so there are 100s to choose from in all different price ranges. Two that I've tried and liked are Gascon and Punto Final - and both are under $15!

Another one I like and it make a great gift is Pinot Noir  -Rodney Strong makes a good one.

  • Lindeman's Bin Shiraz is AMAZING.  Can't comment on any white wine cause I only drink red.  The big bottle of Lindeman's is only $15!
  • Thank you so much!

  • My very favorite red is the Francis Coppola Claret. Yum. Now I want some!

  • Also, this might be a good excuse for you to check out some wineries. The wines there are relatively inexpensive and make good, unique gifts. Plus, it's fun for you too:)

  • ditto pp.  what about getting some from a local vineyard?  i know hopkins sells their wine at liquor stores as well.  my personal favs are at haight brown in litchfield...
  • I'm a huge fan of blush wine.  My faves are Beringer White Zinfandel and Olive Garden's house blush wine (not sure if they sell it by the bottle).

Ditto this.  I personally love Ballet of Angels (a white) from Sharpe-Hill and most of Hopkins and Jonathan Edwards wines.

Hey Chica - you know I love my wine :) give me a budget and I will suggest some bottles. I am not, however a fan of the local wines....though Jonathan edwards has some decent ones but they source their grapes form CA.

I agree with lindsay and live malbecs myself - though I tend to buy Chilean produced ones. love some ofthe vintage Casa Lapostel ones

I can keep going on this topic so rein be in and give me parameters

  • lol. Love ya wyst. I'm looking to spend about $20 per bottle. I'm pretty open to suggestion as I'm the type with  VERY unsophisticated taste buds.
