online shopping v. going to the mall

I usually LOVE going to the mall to Christmas shop, but I just started to online shop and I think I may get everything online!  Its so much easier!

What do you girls typically do?

Re: online shopping v. going to the mall

  • I do probably about 90% of my shopping online.  It's just so convenient!
  • Going to the mall at the holidays makes me homicidal.

So, I either shop online, buy things before the holiday season or (in the rare case) try to go on a random Tuesday morning at the mall, when it isn't very busy.

    Hope is not a strategy.
  • I love shopping at the mall, but most of my buying is online. I think for anyone who works, the idea of it coming to your house, and not having to brave the after-work crowd is reason enough, but add to that free shipping & a coupon code for 20% off, and I see no reason to buy at the mall.
  • I love walking the mall at holiday time, I hate it if I actually have to buy something though- too much stress. I prefer to shop online then go walk the mall to look at the decorations, sip a coffee, listen to music etc, without the stress of having to actually stand in hot, crowded stores

  • Neither. I prefer local shops over either the internet or the mall ::shudder::

  • I really dislike the crazies and crowds during the holidays at the stores. I usually buy online. I go thru a site called Ebates(www.Ebates.com) and you get cash back for the purchases you make and they usually have coupon codes and deals for free shipping too!Yes
  • I do a lot of my shopping online.  A lot of places are offering free shipping, so I am able to get everything I was for the same price if not cheaper without paying extra for shipping.  I am also not dealing with mean crabby customers or tellers either.  It's a great deal.  I've done most of my shopping online for the past couple years.

  • I live hours away from a mall, so most of my shopping is done online.  Even when I lived in civilization, the malls make me claustrophobic at Christmas, so I would avoid them if at all possible.
  • This is really the first year I've done a lot of online shopping.  Like pp said, I find it easier and can get a lot of deals- I also use that ebates.com site, and love it!

  • this too is my first year of shopping online for Christmas and I absolutely love it! ?I will shop at the mall if I'm already out and they have something I want at the right price. Otherwise, online I go!
  • This year I have been doing EVERYTHING online.  I even got my DH's christmas shirt online. Well, when I think about it.  The things I normaly get him is from out of state.

But yeah online is so much easier.

  • I do most of my shopping online too.  We have a mall that is 30 minutes away, but it sucks, they never have anything good.  The nearest decent mall is 1.5-2 hours away.

I agree completely. I love the decorations and the music... but if I want to get serious shopping done I just cant do it with the crowds. People piss me off when Im trying to shop and they're in my way.. or randomly stop walking right in front of me. I go out on black friday.. but honestly Im just doing it for fun and dont get much actual gift buying done. I have ordered half of my husbands presents off amazon already. Its so easy and its actually cheaper! For example, I ordered him a book (kinda a coffee table art book) off amazon.. it was $32.94 with free shipping... and it was $49.00 at boarders. This means.. i just saved almost $20.00 I can spend on coffee and shopping for myself at the mall while looking at decorations!
  • In the past I have done all my Christmas shopping by going to stores whether it's the mall or a local shop. This year though, it has been a mix. I plan on doing some more online shopping but other gifts will require me to go to the stores!
  • I like going online. You can find more unique items. I do both though. Sometimes it's cheaper without the shipping fees.

  • I hate paying insane shipping prices, but if I can get free shipping, I prefer online shopping.
