Thanksgiving Appetizer???
I am going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving and was asked to bring an appetizer. Any suggestions?

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. Stick in broiler...they stay warm, they're good room temp - they have a sweet-salty combo, and most people only take 1 or 2 to save room for the big stuff.
I'm also a fan of cheese and crackers - always have been-whether it's sliced cheese and varietal crackers or a full on cheese plate with marcona almonds, fig jam, etc. etc. (For T-day, I'd stick to the basics). Everyone likes it (especially the kiddos) and you know it'll go.
I agree with PP on cheese and crackers... if you want to impress, display it nicely and maybe add some grapes to the tray/plate.
Another suggestion would be veggies with a dip.
Our apps are shrimp cocktail, veggie and relish tray, and cheese and crackers. I'd pick any one of those.

I think its kinda funny that cheese and nuts are ideas for saving room for a big meal! Aren't these pretty filling??
I'd do veggies and a light dip, or stuffed mushrooms.

Made this last week but after following the recipe I also added roasted red peppers ( can about half), canned spinach (1/3), garlic (1/2 tbsp minced), goat cheese (1/2 - 1 cup crumbled) and put everything in the food processor ( dont blend to much, want some bits and pieces in there not like puree or anything - you can also hand chop - but takes forever) with the can of artichokes and salt and pepper to taste - filled up the crescent ( made three braids with 1 1/2 rolls of crescent) and garnished the platter with gourmet olive mix ( store bought can) in the middle.
Guest ate it up. You can definitely play with this recipe - but anything inside crescent is pretty good - depends on what taste you are going for - maybe you can do brie and cranberry since its thanksgiving but not like the huge baked brie in crescent - that can be more dessert-ish. Good luck.
Defintiely check out their website - they have great easy ideas.
I vote for Bacon wrapped dates. The goat cheese is great, but not everyone is a fan. I've put slivers of almonds in the dates as well as pecans and water chestnuts. It's very simple and you can keep warm in a small appetizer sized crock.
