Favor/place setting for Christmas

DH's uncle is hosting a big dinner on Christmas for 35 people.  My MIL would like to make some sort of favor that we can place at each setting that everyone can take home after.  It has to be something relatively inexpensive.  Anyone have any cute/creative ideas?

This idea is cute and inexpensive.

You can always use an ornament and attach a tag with their name on it.

MIL also hosts for 30-40 every year.  She does an ornament.  Most people forget it and leave it behind, so she has dozens of ornaments from every year's dinner.

I vote for something eatable. A thick candy cane with a ribbon and name tag, small stack of christmas cookies in a celo bag, gingerbread men with people's names written on them.

A simple sugar cookie decorated with royal icing and possibly the person's name, wrapped in cellophane.  Any homemade Christmas candies would be great and affordable.

That little tree is adorable.  I agree though that most people would leave behind an ornament or the little tree.  I like the candy cane idea or something edible.  Maybe a little box of homemade chocolates?

You can do an ornament shaped cookie!  I like the idea of the name on it too.

Love that tree but in my experience w/ helping friends w/ events like showers & weddings, things that can be eaten work best - cookies, candy/etc.  How about pretzel rods dipped in chocolate & coated w/ sprinkles, walnuts ? We included these in a Christmas cookie plate a few years ago & they went over very well!

I think it's all about the packaging... a pretty ribbon, a nice name tag written with a nice pen/marker on a simple cello bag.
