...we DH's job. I hate that he is always working on the weekends. We were recently invited to a wedding for one of my co-workers on August 2nd which is a Saturday. Dh already put in to get August 3rd off because we have Red Sox tickets. Well he won't be able to get both days off so now he can't come to the wedding with me...I have to go to yet another wedding alone. He said I could choose and we could sell our sox tickets...but we have both been looking forward to going to this game, as we never got to a game last year. Anyways, I asked him if he would meet me at the wedding when he gets out of work at 5, because the reception doesn't start until 4:30...but he doesn't want to do that becuse he thinks by the time he gets out of work changes and gets there it will be almost 6 so really what is the point he says. Also, I dont' think he really wants to go to the wedding because he won't know anyone (but he won't admit that to me). Anyways I just need to vent about this. Would you still go to the wedding solo or would you not go. I have to mail the RSVP back soon and don't know what to put down.
Re: So frustrated
Shannon,
A benefit of working at a supermarket should be flexibility because of the number of people available to cover shifts being that there are so many shifts.
I worked at a supermarket for 10 years and NEVER had a problem requesting time of, regardless of my position. If I needed a weekend off, I put in the request and I got it off.
Now, my schedule was made a month in advance, so it MAY have been too late to change it at this point, but normally, someone would be willing to trade with me or perhaps the store manager would just make the change.
When I was in the position of making schedules, people would ask for all sorts of ridiculous times off and I normally gave it to them.
A weekend is a normal request to be asked for off. Unless he's asking for every other weekend, I don't understand why he can't get this.
