I wanted to share a really really easy recipe that I think would fit nicely into everyones Thanksgiving menues. I typically make this and serve it with boneless pork chops, but I think it would dress up turkey nicely for those who want an alternative to the norm.
This Recipe makes 2-3 servings, adjust quantity to the amount you need.
Ingredients:
2 Apples, I used Gala but any would do
1 small bottle white wine (like the mini bar size)
1 bag frozen pearl onions
Olive Oil
Directions:
Heat olive oil in skillet. I use about half a small bag of frozen pearl onions for 2-3 servings, adjust as needed. Pour frozen onions in skillet, and let brown for about 8-10 minutes, occasionally stirring. While those are cooking, slice apples into small wedges and remove skins. When onions start to brown, add apple slices and the entire small bottle of white wine. Turn heat down to medium, cover, and let cook for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Once most the wine has cooked down/soaked into mixture, apples should be tender to the point of falling apart. Serve hot over turkey/pork. Its SO easy and so flavorful! Enjoy.
Re: Apple and Pearl Onion White Wine Relish
Seriously, that sounds so good.
Do you use a Chardonnay?
