*danigirl* europe ideas

hey there.  so mil finally got some free time to email me about europe.  she didn't go into great detail, but gave some of the cities/towns that they enjoy.  any other questions, she'd said she'd be happy to answer.

France. I would guess they would be in Paris, but if they have a choice, the small towns on the Riviera are wonderful, or any in Provence (southern France). St. Remy de Provence was where we stayed for 4-5 days on our motorcycle trip last Oct. Sept should be a beautiful time of year. I guess I should know more specifically if they plan on Paris, as that would take at least a few days in itself.

Italy. Again, can they get out into smaller towns or will they be in a city? Our favorite big city is Florence, for the art, cathedral, streetlife. Venice is also fascinating, with the canals. Accommodations would be more expensive as it is an island. Rome is such a huge city, quite hard to explore in a day or 3. Our favorite is the Lakes area, northwestern Italy, in particular Bellagio on Lake Como. We spent our 25th anniversary there.
We also love the Cinque Terre area, on the sea, 5 towns hanging to cliffs connected by hiking paths and train.
Also we love the little villages in Tuscany, we could help with names.

For Switzerland, I don't know Lugano. We have stayed in Grindelwald, a small village tucked into the Jungfrau mountains and so picturesque. Again, we love the small villages, but transportation may be the question. Trains are great in Switz. We haven't stayed in any of the bigger cities, just driven through them.
