Advice on birthday gift for 11y.o. girl

My niece turns 11 in a few weeks (OMG I feel so old, when did she grow up??) and I have no idea what to get her. They live in PA so I don't see them often so I don't know what she already has or what specifically she's into. But, she's not a real girlie-girl, more of a tomboy, and likes sports and anything outdoors.

What's the coolest thing around for kids this age?? I try not to do video games or computer games, she doesn't seem that into them.

Thanks!

Re: Advice on birthday gift for 11y.o. girl

  • If she's into sports, how about tickets to a local event? If it's cheap enough, you could even get a couple extra tickets for her to bring a friend or 2. You could either just talk to her parents or poke around online to find out what she might like and what's available.
  • I was going to suggest something to do with that "Hannah Montana" person as she seems to be big with the pre-teen crowd, but where your niece is into sports and a tom-boy, maybe that idea would not be for her!  LOL!

I have a teenaged cousin who is a few years older than that (15) and she's very much into arts and crafts, so she typically likes any of those kits to make your own jewelry or scrapbooking supplies.......or gift cards to Hollister (where she LOVES to shop).

  • What about an ITunes GC? Or a GC to her favorite store?
  • I have 11 year old cousins (twin girls).  They are into Abercrombie, Hollister and Limited Too.  I bet she would like a gift card so she could do some shopping.
  • As "impersonal" as gift cards seem, people, and especially kids, really do love them.  I know I do!!  Or, if that's just not the route you want to take, you can simply ask her parents for some ideas if you wanted to make the gift personally from you.
  • My niece also just turned 11 and she is sorta halfway b/t a kid still and a teen I guess the term is tween haha! So she still likes some games and "kiddish" stuff, but then likes hip clothes and some hip music!  I know she is into the Webkins craze too!  She has an iPod so iTunes cards are always welcome for her.  I got her a CD and a cute outfit(read "soooo cool Auntie!" it's what I live to hear haha!)

Some of the things on her list when I asked were...

CD's(I got her Jordan Sparks, one of her picks...the rest on her list are below taken straight from her email to me LMAO!)

Carrie Underwood Carnival Ride, Natasha Bettingfield cd with Pocket full of sunshine, Disney Mania 6, Minute Men, Vanessa Hudgens

Clothes(Limited Too, Old Navy, Aeropostale, American Eagle), Earrings, other jewelry.

Good Luck hope that mighta helped a teensy bit!

  • Oh yeah and she's totally into the Highschool Musical & Camp Rock thing!
  • ditto on the GC or Hannah Montana thing...I think shes in the right that age group..right??  maybe its young IDK?  :P
