Haha awesome FF trade for me

My FF opponent this week proposed a trade.  He would give me Vincent Jackson for Steve Slaton.

Uh, what the hell is he thinking?  Slaton isn't even the starter in Houston... I have great depth at RB, so of course I took it.  Jackson is a top 5-10 WR!  Slaton is nowhere near top 10 RB and has been sitting on my bench for a few weeks now because of his fumbleitis.

Ok now that I accepted his trade and basically called my opponent an idiot, just watch this one bite me in the ass on Sunday!

Re: Haha awesome FF trade for me

  • I think its not as black and white as you make it seem. Actually, overall and considering what went on in Week 10, I agree with your opponent on this one.

    1. Steve Slaton IS starting this week, and against Tennessee no less.  Afthe first two weeks, he's had pretty decent numbers (in my league three 18 pt games) and he'll likely continue to start moving forward with higher numbers after Monday's game.

With Slaton, there's plenty of upside -- now a starter, numbers that were already solid, should continue to go up.

    2.  Jackson has a better overall record than Slaton, but once you disregard Slaton's first two weeks, the two are pretty even point and production wise (and with FF you should only look forward when considering trades because previous points earned don't move with the player). However, with the great game LT had in Week 10, Jackson ended up with only 1 point against Philly.  FF is all about potential, and so long as LT really is "back" to 2004 form or even clost, it's a good guess that Jackson's potential is "gone". It's possible he won't see nearly as many passes.

With Jackson, there's much to suggest he's all downside.

All things being equal and nothing changing (other than Slaton now being a starter because we already know that's happened), I say the trade is pretty equal.  BUT, if anything is going to change, it's likely that those changes are going to benefit the person getting rid of Jackson and adding Slaton to his lineup.
