I grew up with a weird dislike for the holidays (another long story) but am attempting to start a new tradition of watching lots of cheesy holiday movies to set the tone in my household (does 620sf really count as a household?).
What are some of your favorite holiday movies to watch? I need to build my collection.
I love Polar Express and is it wrong that I get a kick out of Eight Crazy Nights?

Re: Holiday Movies
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is a MUST in our family. I've seen it oh, about 12000 times. Another must? A Christmas Story.
Also, Elf. Now my holidays aren't complete without Elf.
Also a strange fan of The Santa Claus (yes, the one with Tim Allen. Yes, I'm a bit ashamed to admit it), One Magic Christmas (old school movie, but I love it. It's from like 1983)
I love holiday movies....

I'm with you on the holidays. I hate them. But I do love getting a tree - I think because it's something I can decorate!
Needless to say, there aren't a whole lot of Christmas movies being watched here, except the occasional one that comes on tv.
Oh, I have a lot. : )
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Rudolph
It's a Wonderful Life
Frosty the Snowman
Tim Burton's the Nightmare Before Christmas
The Grinch
Garfield
The Polar Express
Mickey's Christmas Carol
Santa Clause (and maybe 2 and 3)
Home Alone
The Little Dummer Boy
Elf
Prancer
A Christmas Story
Also, this site gives you all of the holiday programming. Can I just say booooo on cutting cable? There are a lot I've never seen that I'll actually have time for. Except we don't have ABC Family. :-p

Oh wow! I didn't realize all those movies were out there. Must start keeping a catalog list or something.
I also really like Love Actually.
Jeni- Christmas trees are so fun! I love the smell of a real tree, but a little piece of me dies when we've had to get rid of the tree post-holidays because that poor grew "served" its purpose for 1 month only pretty much. So saaad. Still trying to figure out a resolution to this.
Oh, I LOVE that movie, too. I always forget its a Christmas movie!

Oh oh oh! I have a solution to this if you live in the right area! mrspdxbride? mentioned this on the EF board. This company will deliver a real Christmas tree to you. You decorate it and keep it moist, and after Christmas they'll come take it away and plant it. : ) Unfortunately, we're out of the delivery area. But how cool is that?!
I'm always sad about trees, too, but I've come to terms with it. Getting a tree from a local tree farm is OK because it supports local community, and as long as the tree is used after as mulch/compost it's more eco-friendly than buying an artificial tree.
Ooh! Fantastic find! Thanks for the recommendation.
I think you nailed every Christmas movie I had in mind!
Sleepless in Seattle starts during the Xmas holidays, so it's a Xmas movie, right?
And we used to watch the Sound of Music during the holidays so that's kind of a Xmas movie for me too.
