salad dressing on the table?

I've been asked to bring a green salad with a "festive" dressing to Thanksgiving -- but told not to dress the salad before serving to accommodate several people who take their salads dry.

What should I serve the dressing in?

Re: salad dressing on the table?

  • I have glass bottles like this that I serve mine in:

  • Do you have a gravy boat you can bring?
I have a glass salad dressing cruet I got at Marshall's.
  • gravy boats are good because they have the plate under them to catch stuff.  You could also look for/use a creamer to pour or a sugar bowl with the sugar spoon to spoon.
  • I agree with the gravy boat idea and think it would be cute.

  • Ah, Marshalls! I never think to go in there, but they do usually have a wide selection of table-appopriate bottles.Thank you!

I would use a gravy boat, but the hostess has already commandeered mine. She's serving four gravies: with giblets, without, vegan mushroom, and beef onion (!!) for some old uncle who insists that's the best match for turkey. Hmm.

This is what I was going to suggest.  We got a creamer for our wedding, and at the time I wondered how many times I'd actually use it.  Heck, I think it is one of the most used pieces - I use it to serve syrup, dressings, cream, etc.

  • My family always used a pretty teapot for gravy because we never had a gravy boat, if you have one it could work for dressing.

If you enjoy thrift-shopping, I bet you could find one for change there, if you're really sold on the gravy boat idea.

    A trivet is a hot plate :)

I use my creamer bowl, gravy boat, glass cruets etc. Depending on the event, determines which one I use.
