Re: poll: holiday cards
Do you send holiday cards? (Christmas, Hannukah, Seasons Greetings, Happy New Year, etc) Yes.
How big is your mailing list? I think it's around 50. I send cards to my immediate family, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and the same on DH's side, except not his adult cousins because he has a lot that he isn't close with. We also send cards to our friends.
Do you do photo cards? If so, is the photo of you and H, your pet(s), your kid(s), a combination, or other? No photo cards, although I was on my mom's photo card last year. I feel weird sending just a pic of me and DH to people. I'll do photo cards when I have kids, or maybe a pet.
When do you buy your cards? This year we bought ours a week ago. In previous years we have bought them in the after-Christmas sales. I try to get a good deal for the most part, even though the stamps are the most expensive part.
When do you mail your cards? I aim for the second week in December. I send Hannukah cards to some people so if Hannukah is early I want to make sure they get them at the right time.
Do you cut people off of your list ever? If so, what is the reason (not receiving cards back, don't talk anymore, etc)? Not yet, but we might in the future if we lose contact with people.
How do you keep your addresses up to date? I email people who I know have moved and didn't give me their address.
What do you do with the cards that you receive from others? We hang them up.
Do you write an annual newsletter? No.
Do you write personal notes in each card? I try to for people who I don't speak to often. For my family and close friends I usually just sign our names.
Do you send holiday cards? (Christmas, Hannukah, Seasons Greetings, Happy New Year, etc) Yes
How big is your mailing list? It hasn't been very big in the past, just immediate family, but this year DH wants to send cards to "everyone!".
Do you do photo cards? If so, is the photo of you and H, your pet(s), your kid(s), a combination, or other? So far we haven't, but since DH is insisting on a huge mailing list this year, I want to do a fun photo card of the animals. He is against this, but if he wants to send so many cards out, they're going to be what I want. So there! Yes, we act like little children.
When do you buy your cards? First week in Dec usually.
When do you mail your cards? Mid-December
Do you cut people off of your list ever? If so, what is the reason (not receiving cards back, don't talk anymore, etc)? Not yet
How do you keep your addresses up to date? DH's aunt keeps a gigantic family list that she emails around, so I stopped updating our address book for those. Other than that, I try to be good about updating our address book whenever a piece of mail comes from a new address or someone moves.
What do you do with the cards that you receive from others? Put them on our mantle or hang a string to drape them on.
Do you write an annual newsletter? Nope
Do you write personal notes in each card? Mostly no, but we like to put stupid jokes in the one to my mom and brothers and if it's a friend we haven't spoken to in awhile we include a little message.
We don't do holiday cards at all! I did order 50 free ones thru seehere.com- but I doubt we'll end up sending them out.
Do you send holiday cards? (Christmas, Hannukah, Seasons Greetings, Happy New Year, etc) depends on how I'm feeling... sometimes...
How big is your mailing list? Too long...
Do you do photo cards? If so, is the photo of you and H, your pet(s), your kid(s), a combination, or other? No... not yet anyway, though we could. We missed the boat the year we got our dogs... could do one this year for the wedding, but we're not... we better pick up the slack when we start having kids or else I'll be feeling the wrath of the grandmothers..
When do you buy your cards? usually it's not til after Thanksgiving, but this year I think I might just buy them now to get it all over with... and to commit to actually doing them.
When do you mail your cards? no later than the week before xmas
Do you cut people off of your list ever? If so, what is the reason (not receiving cards back, don't talk anymore, etc)? Meh... there are some people, like DH's single male friends I don't think I'll be sending a card to...
How do you keep your addresses up to date? I have a current list thanks to the wedding... I'll try to keep it up
What do you do with the cards that you receive from others? Hang them in our living room, around the door frame
Do you write an annual newsletter? No
Do you write personal notes in each card? Not really... depends on if its someone I haven't talked to in a while... other than that it's just a "Love, us" type of signature.
Do you send holiday cards? (Christmas, Hannukah, Seasons Greetings, Happy New Year, etc) This will be our first year. I wanted to do them before but DH said no. Then last year after Christmas he said he wished we had done them. Grr DH!
How big is your mailing list? About 35
Do you do photo cards? If so, is the photo of you and H, your pet(s), your kid(s), a combination, or other? Yes, it will be of us and the dogs
When do you buy your cards? I need to get on that!
When do you mail your cards? I want to get them out around the 2nd week of December
Do you cut people off of your list ever? If so, what is the reason (not receiving cards back, don't talk anymore, etc)? I hadn't updated my address book in a while and definitely cut people. It was last updated after our wedding (2ish years ago)
How do you keep your addresses up to date? An address book
What do you do with the cards that you receive from others? Put them on the fridge
Do you write an annual newsletter? No.
Do you write personal notes in each card? No.
