SA Baby Mommas

Two questions for ya:

1) Where are shopping for nursery items (furniture, decor, etc)?

2) Has anyone found a pediatrician? If so, are there any recs for the NW side?

TIA!

Re: SA Baby Mommas

  • We bought the baby furniture at Pottery Barn Kids, actually our parents (mine and DH's) surprised us and bought it.

I am using a pediatrician whose name I cannot remember right now... I will post again later after it comes to me. My OB recommended him to me.

  • 1. We got our nursery furniture from Just for Kids at Stone Oak Pkwy & 1604. PIB

    2. ???

There are so many of us, we should form a play group!!!

  • Our pediatrician is technically Dr. Ozer, but he's always away so we don't see him often. WE've been really happy with Dr. Ross and Dr. Rocha-Davis. I loved Dr. Hyslop but he left.

It's really important to find a pedi that meshes with your ideas and with whom you feel comfortable. For me, I wanted one who would support - and was knowledgeable of - extended breastfeeding. I really didn't want to have a battle about formula. I also wanted someone that wasn't quick to push antibiotics, unless absolutely needed. I'm more of a 'let nature take its course, and if that's not working then let's help it along." He agreed fully with both those things - he brought them up himself. I didn't have those discussions with the other docs in the practice, but they've been fully supportive. Those may not be issues for you, but think about what concerns you do have and find a doctor who will work with that. It's a very important relationship.

re 1 - we didn't have a nursery. DD slept in our bed until about 20 months, then we moved her to a crib, still in our room (out of necessity, we're still renovating her room...) The crib came form IKEA.

  • I second the ABCD Peds. Our dr is technically Dr. Hyslop, but we've seen Basey and Arnold and they are great too. The office staff is very nice and cooperative.
  • We bought our crib at Just for Kids at Stone Oak.  They have a great selection there, and we have been very happy with it.

Our pedi is Dr. Cook and Cook.  They are a married couple and share a practice with Dr. Hall.  They're in Alamo Heights, on Broadway, in the same complex as the Little Gym.  I still don't know my SA geography, so that might not be convenient for you.  I would ask your OB for recos too.  DH's cousin takes her kids to the Cook's, so that's how we found them.
