Mac & Cheese Recipes

We are hosting our first Thanksgiving this year.  I am wanting to make mac and cheese but I have never made real mac & cheese.  I am needing help with recipes. I would like to do a crock pot mac and cheese but am open to other ones.

Thank you in advance for your help ladies.  I'm just not having much luck finding something that I am sure will be delish online.

Re: Mac & Cheese Recipes

  • if you go to allrecipes.com and look up macaroni and cheese i have tried mac and cheese V and find it delish.  good luck
  • This is my mom's ex-mother in laws recipe. It is the best that I have ever had.

    2 cups cooked elbow mac

    16 oz sour cream

    16 oz cottage cheese

    2-4 cups grated cheese

    2 eggs

    Salt and Pepper to taste

Mix together and baked uncovered at 350 for 30-45 mins until bubbly.

  • Here's my microwave mac and cheese.I typically double the recipe to have leftovers. I'm sure it could be done in the crock pot, just will take a little longer. It's delicious!

    8oz macaroni (about 2 c)
    1 t salt
    1 t olive oil
    2T butter
1 c cheese, grated (I used monterrey and Colby jack because I think
    it's creamier!)
    8oz processed cheese
    ? c sour cream
    ? cup milk

Boil water with salt and oil. Add noodles and cook until tender. Drain
and set aside. Place butter in a microwave safe dish and melt butter.
Add cooked and drained macaroni, cheeses, sour cream and milk,
stirring until well mixed. Microwave for 6-8 minutes, stirring every
three minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Here's my great aunt's.  On a side note, I'm from Greenville!  Small world.

  • This is my H's:

    1 box corkscrew noodles

    5 cups cheedar cheese

    1 cup buttermilk

    1/4 stick butter

    1 cup corn flakes

    Salt/Pepper

Boil noodles until al dente. Drain. Place in a greased baking dish. Mix noodles with cheese, buttermilk, and drop in pats of butter. Salt and pepper to taste. Put in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. I stir halfway through and check the cheese consistency. With five minutes left sprinkle crushed cornflakes on top.

  • I love alton brown's recipe, though its not a crockpot recipe. You could find it on foodnetwork.com.  Also I substitute the cheese mixture he uses to half cheddar/half pepper jack mix.
  • DH loves this...  it might have helped me get a ring...

    Macaroni and Cheese

    2 cups uncooked macaroni
1/2 stick butter (cut up in pieces)
8-12 oz. pkg strong cheddar cheese (white)
Slice up and layer across top of macaroni and butter.
Slices of American and Swiss Cheese (6-8 slices total)
Layer over top of cheddar cheese
    Little salt and pepper
5 cups of milk poured over above ingredients.
    Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over top
Bake 1 hour uncovered at 350 degrees.

If starts to get too brown last 15 minutes put foil on it.
