Christmas party menu/appetizers?

Hello!  DH and I might be having my family over for Christmas Eve this year.  Their will be about 15-20 people, but we don't have room to have a big sit down dinner, so I would like to keep the menu easy, but still good.  I was thinking snack type food or appetizers.  Any suggestions?

Re: Christmas party menu/appetizers?

  • we usually do soups for Christmas eve with summers sausage, cheese and crackers.

  • I personally love guac and freshly made tortilla chips (buy corn tortillas and cut them into wedges and grill or broil them).

Hummus (homemade) and pitas are my second fave.

Cheese & bread and an olive plate are always good.

Fruit plate and veggies with some dip are easy.

    Hope is not a strategy.
  • Pigs in a blanket, spinach dip, hummus, veggie tray, dessert display (brownies, cookies, cupcakes), a ham which can be cut and served on rolls with honey mustard, mini quiche, meatballs.

Just some of the things my cousin serves on Christmas night at her house - she has everyone over and does this on a buffet table because there are over 30 of us and definitely not enough room for a sit down dinner.

  • Paula Deen has a very tasty hot chicken salad recipe. Yummy on crackers.
  • Bruschetta with tomatoes are a crowd pleaser. Fruit skewers, mini pizzas, mini cheesecakes for dessert.
  • Summer sausage, cheese, and various crackers; sausage balls; pigs in a blanket; cheese ball and crackers; etc.

For big groups, I am definitely a fan of doing what is easy. JMO.
