Good Thanksgiving alcohol drink?

I am looking to start a new tradition and have a signature "Thanksgiving drink". We have grasshoppers for Christmas (cream de coca, cream de methe and ice cream), but I was looking for a Thanksgiving drink. Any suggestions? I was thinking something with apple cider and Brandy or rum maybe. Any suggestions? TIA :)

  • I got this recipe off of drinkmixer.com  It sounds really good.

     Apple Pie Punch

    1 gallon apple juice
    1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
    3 - 4 cinnamon sticks
    1 liter Everclear? alcohol

Put the juice, cider, and cinnamon sticks into a pan and let simmer on the stove for about 2 hours (not boil). Turn off heat, pour in 1 liter or 2/3 liter Everclear (no taste of alcohol) to the batch and pour into punch cups. Very potent, tastes exactly like apple pie.

    This is SO good!!!

Another thought would be to do something with cranberry.  I know that vodka & cran is probably too simple for what you're looking for, but maybe something in that arena?

Causes that are important to me: Planned Pethood Graham's Foundation NOCC
  • Hard mulled cider

    • 1 gallon Apple Cider
    • Mulling Spices (I like williams-sonoma)
    • 1 orange, sliced
    • brandy (to taste)

combine all in a crock pot 30-40 minutes before guests arrive.

Also, search the Apple Cider Hot Toddy's on food network. Yum!

  • How about Poinsettias? They are like mimosas, only with cranberry juice! Perfect for the holidays!

    Champagne (to taste)

    Cranberry Juice (to taste)

    squeeze of lemon or lime

This is my favorite way to modify a mimosa - I think this will be my new Thanksgiving tradition.

  • At Thanksgiving my family does Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka with Cranberry Sierra Mist.   YUM!!

  • I previously made this recipe:

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups apple cider
    • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, softened
    • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
    • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 8 graham crackers
    • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
    • 2 teaspoons rum extract
    • 2 cups non-dairy whipped topping
    • 4 whole cinnamon sticks
    • 4 shots bourbon whiskey

    Directions

Heat the apple cider in a nonreactive saucepan.

In a bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Whip until the butter becomes creamy and the ingredients are incorporated. Place the graham crackers and pumpkin pie spice in a plastic baggie and crush with a rolling pin. Combine the rum extract with the non-dairy whipped topping. In a footed coffee glass, place a single cinnamon stick and a slice of spiced butter. Pour 1 shot whiskey into the glass. Ladle the hot cider to fill the glass. Garnish with a dollop of rum-flavored topping and a sprinkle of graham cracker crumb mixture. Serve warm.

This year, I decided to do a wine/cranberry drink
