Review of "New Moon" (possible spoilers)

Okay, so I saw New Moon.  It's hard for me to really give this movie a star rating, because there's so many ways to view the movie.  If you're a non-Twilight fan, you're probably not going to like the movie.  If you're a die-hard Twilight fan with high expectations, you'll probably be disappointed.  I went with relatively low exceptions, and was pleasantly surprised.

What I Liked:

1) I liked seeing the story played out. I know a lot of Twilight readers don't like New Moon as much as some of the other books, but I like it just fine.

2) Jacob's abs. (as Bella would say, "holy crow!")

3) The Werewolf CGI. Okay, I know I'll probably be in the minority, but I thought they did just fine.

4) The development of lesser characters.  Charlie's a sweetheart.  Mike's a dufus.  It works.

What I Didn't Like:

1)  They rushed things. I know they had to for film sake, but some things - like the whole "Oh, when I said you weren't good for me I was lying" conversation - needed to be drawn out a little more.

2)  The dialogue. It was just horrible, lol.

3) That they didn't shave that little bit of hair off of Rob Pattinson's chest. I mean, here you have this vampire that supposed to be the most beautiful thing on earth, and you give him a shirtless scene, and you tell me that you're not going to take a razor to that? Really?  Really???

4)  Rosalie looked terrible.  I know she's supposed to be feeling guilty, but she didn't strike me as a woman who would make me feel inferior just by walking in a room.  Esme didn't look good either.

Okay, but now I'm just getting nit-picky.

So anyway, as long as you go with low expectations, I think you'll enjoy yourself.  If you haven't read the series, I would suggest doing that first.

Re: Review of "New Moon" (possible spoilers)

  • I really enjoyed the movie and totally agree with your review! Especially about edward's chest hair!!! EW!
  • The movie had an interesting effect for me. When I read the books I felt sorry for Jacob because it was so obvious to me that she belonged with Edward. The movie actually had me second guessing Ms. Meyer and that she should be with Jacob. Maybe it was just the abs. They were rather nice. Ditto chest hair, and his left nipple is weird. Everything about that moment was awkward.
  • LOL, I guess I was so perplexed by the chest hair that I missed the nipple.

I'll tell DH that we have to go and see it again to investigate.  lol :)

  • i thought it was pretty good. I just saw the first one tho like a month ago. I will admit that this is the first statement out of my mouth when credits rolled: "Was this lady smoking crack when she wrote this!?!?!" honestly who thinks of those kinds of things?!

I also busted out laughing when bella hit her head from the motorcycle and jacob rips off his shirt. SOOO freakin cheesy. This movie was cheesy mcCheester in a lot of ways...

and the chest hair, it was GROSSIN ME OUT!!! i freakin hate hair, thats why i married an indian myself LOL i was like..fixated on that patch of hair on edward. I just wanted to pluck it!! o_0

  • I went to see New Moon last night.  I did read the books and see the first movie, and I must admit, I really liked New Moon.  But you know what bugged me??  In the beginning of the movie before Jacob "cut his hair."  Clearly, the long hair was a wig...when they closed up on his face in the movie theatre when he's talking to Bella...you can clearly see the "wigness" of his hair! That just bugged me.  :)
