satellite tv help

We are thinking of saving some money and switching from Time Warner b/c it's such a rip off! to another provider. Soo my question, which is better:

Dish network or Direct TV? One is slightly more expensive than the other for what we want (even before the sale prices)

Do you have either and what do you like/don't like about them? How are they during the winter/bad weather??

We both have only ever had cable so tell me the good and the bad! Thanks!

Does anyone know if FIOS is coming to ROC???

Re: satellite tv help

  • also, any thoughts on their internet??
  • My husband and his family are all about Direct TV.  It is expensive and watch your statements b/c they messed up on ours and didn't give us all the right discounts.  This did get fixed, but it took awhile.  We have all the movie channels which is nice.  I can usually find something on tv.  I never look at the tv guide anymore I just use the feature on the tv and find something.  We are huge Red Sox fans and were told with Mlb extra innings we would be able to watch the games.  Not true.  You need to buy the baseball package which is really expensive.  We didn't buy it this year.  My inlaws have the baseball and football package which is a lot of money.

Part of me would go back to cable, but I have gotten used to all the movie channels. We only have tv in two rooms b/c you have to rent the boxes.  I think if we had cable we would have tv in more rooms.

Weather.  Drives me nuts that I do not have tv during a big storm.  I always think this a time when I should have it.  It is hard to get used to that.  It isn't all the time, but enough of the time.

  • DH is really into Direct TV too.  We haven't run into too many issues with storms.  We usually have so much saved on the DVR that we just watch something from that if we can't watch the regular tv.  I've never had Dish Network so I really can't compare the two.
