Thanksgiving Dinner: HELP!!

XP: I need help with games! :) Please help me!!

I decided that I want to make this Tgiving dinner a fun event, complete with games/prizes! (Odd, I know LOL!)

I want to do 4 games for the adults (I have 4 small prizes) and our family kinda likes games, so I think it will be great fun! We are hosting Tgiving dinner for the 1st time in our new home this year, as a family:)

There will be 4 kiddos present and each kid will get a goodie bag complete with turkey hat and some small toys (I wrapped them all today and everything turned out cuuuuute!), so obviously they don't have to compete for a prize... only the adults.

Last week, someone recommended musical chairs to the Turkey song, which is a cute idea, but my Gma is 99 y.o. and DHs gma is 89 y.o. so they won't be able to participate in physical games.

What about some Tgiving trivia questions? Anyone have any ideas for trivia?

Sticker on a plate? (IMO kinda boring)

Any ideas from you guys? I really appreciate it!!! Thank you sooo much!!!

Re: Thanksgiving Dinner: HELP!!

  • Our family likes to use a dry erase board and play Pictionary.  We don't play the whole game.  We just make a reasonable score that we are going play to and we make teams of 4 for guessing, but each person takes a turn drawing on the big dry erase board.  It is lots of fun!  It is also great for indoors.  We have several other outdoor games that we do on Easter and 4th of July.

  • what about putting a bunch of cranberries (or something else associated with T Day) in a jar and having people guess how many are in the jar

For another game for kids - have them put there hands in the cranberries and with two hands pull out as many as they can at 1 time and count to see who got the most

Pin the feather on the turkey???

I like doing crafts for the kids...have them make placemats out of construction paper for everyone or Indian hats with feathers or something else associated with the holiday.

  • Guess the cranberries and Pictionary  may be okay, but really the only game my family would get into is a euchre.  Call me a Tday let down, but all I want to do is eat and relax on that day, not compete and play games.
  • What about a Thanksgiving themed word scramble?  You could use words like turkey, pilgrim, mayflower.... jumble up the letters and then have people unscramble them.  First to finish wins.  Or you could have people do it for a fixed time and see who can get the most.  We did a baby themed one at a shower and it was fun.

At that shower, we also did a numbers game with teams.  We asked trivia questions where the answers were all numbers.  Things like how many diapers does an average 1 year old go through.  Everyone wrote on their board their guess and then the closest without going over (kind of like price is right) got a point.  We did it with teams where each team sent one person up for each question, but you could do it as an individual game if you had less people.  (We had like 30 some at the shower... it was coed.)

I love games so you're Thanksgiving idea sounds great to me!

    This.

You obviously know your family better than we do..........but I see most adults giving you a huge eye roll and sigh when you inform them that they will be playing games, and (especially with the games you mentioned) you'll be lucky to get more than a half-hearted effort at any of them.

I'm an adult, I don't need or want to play games and win cheap little prizes anymore.  I'll play a game of euchre, and if you're in a warm climate I'd play an outside game like Bocce or something.  But I'm not doing a word scramble or putting any effort into guessing the number of cranberries.

  • Bingo is another option. The older guests will probably really love it!

  • My side of the family isn't really one for games, but my H's side is and it's so much fun.

I like the idea of Pictionary.  That's fun and everyone can play.

Mafia is another game that is fun and everyone can play.  Here is some info on it if you've never heard of it:
