Have another question: Pros/Cons

Well, it turns out I'll need some "help" sooner than I thought.  Like I said we're thinking about buying a new house, we found the EXACT same house in 2 areas of OFallon (one of them is close to the "corner" of Hwy 40 and Hwy N; and the other one is on Hwy 70 close to Hwy 40; 63367 VS 63366). The houses themselves are ALMOST the exact same price.  It seems that the community close to N is more desirable (community playground and pool, and walking trails),and it's closer to my work... I was just wondering how "desirable" is Wentzville's school district???

And I guess that any other comments about the area would help (I couldn't find, for instance, a lot of information on the mall that's on 40 and N).

Thanks again ladies!!!

Re: Have another question: Pros/Cons

  • Just in case: the distance from work difference is only 4 miles, and the house that further away is cheaper (around $3000, which would probably pay for itself in gas in the long run).

I've included the map... House A is the cheaper one, House B is the closer one, with community ammenities that seem a bit better.

I guess our only "doubt" is that we didn't get to see the area for house B because we were short on time... but I'll go check it out as soon as I get there in August!!!

Is it really a no brainer like it seems to me???

    Map

  • I live really close to 40 and N (I am off of Bryan Rd/Winghaven).  I think I would prefer this location because there is a lot of shopping in this area.  You would seconds from WalMart, Lowe's, Target, JCPenney, Shop N Save, and two movie theaters.  You also aren't too far from Hwy K shopping for anything you can't find @ 40 and N.

Wentzville is supposedly rated very highly- that is the district we are in.  It seems like all the schools are brand new.  Obviously our son is too young for us to have first hand experience.

Are you looking at the Springhurst subdivision?

  • I can't speak for myself because I do not have any children, but...Those parents that I know that have children who live in the district are very happy with how well their kids are doing in school and rave about their teachers, administrators and counselors.   The school district has been growing rapidly in the past few years (due to folks moving out there) and there are alot of new schools and faculty. IMO, it's a good school district to move into.

  • I personally would pick house B.  Its a little closer to work, plus that area is booming with tons of development!  I think they are building some higher end shops out there plus there's a brand new shopping area with Super Walmart, Lowes, restaurants, etc.

Is house A the Fox Ridge subdivision by any chance?  If so, my best friend lives in there and a co-worker is getting ready to move there so I could probably get a little more insight from them.  Smile

  • Thanks girls!!!  House A is in Fox Ridge Heartland (I wasn't sure if posting that type of thing would be PC), house B is also by The Jones Company and it's called Preston Woods Heartland.

I thought I heard about those high end shopping centers, so that's definetely a plus!!!

We don't have kids yet, so our kids going to school is at least 7-8 years away (this is one of the main reasons we're moving), but we're just planning ahead.

Thanks again!!!  Very helpful.   Maybe you can email me soon2be, I would LOVE to hear from your friends (pisb at yahoo dot com).  Thanks in advance.
