Acton?

Anyone here familiar with Acton? Nice town? Unaffordable? DH and I are considering a house there. TIA.

Re: Acton?

  • Acton is a nice town with a good school system.  I guess I'd say it's moderately expensive for metrowest Boston.  I believe they do have high taxes though.
  • Acton is a good town with a great school system (regional with Boxborough). It is pricey. We couldn't find anything decent in our price range.

Littleton, Westford, and Chelmford are more affordable but still great towns with really good school systems. More affordable beyond those three is Maynard but the school system isn't great. We used to live there and I was ready to get out.

Some of the other towns around Acton are kinda pricey as well: Boxborough, Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Stow, Sudbury.

But it doesn't hurt to look. You never know what you'll find in this economy especially if you don't mind a fixer upper, although you don't find many foreclosures. GL!

  • Acton is nice and pretty expensive.  As Mrs. C said Littleton, Westford, and Chelmsford are all nice towns with good school systems close to Acton and are more affordable.
  • Ditto the others. Good luck with your search :-)
