My younger sister is becoming a teenager (the big 1-3) on Thanksgiving. I've been asking her for the last two months what she would like, but she "doesn't know." For my 13th birthday I received my first ring (two beautiful diamonds and a sapphire); I figured she would maybe want one with her favorite stone, but shes not like me...actually shes the complete opposite of me. I would be fine with clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry...but shes not me.
I need suggestions desperately!! What do 13 year olds want these days?
Re: Holiday Birthday...
iPod, digital camera, Wii, gift cards, cash......that's what I can think of. What's your budget?
But then again 13, wasn't a big deal to me or any of my friends. =
I love the idea of getting her the first piece of "real" jewelry - a ring, necklace, or earrings... My parents got me a lovely gold necklace with a pearl & diamond pendant for my 13th birthday... They said that I could wear it for the big occasions in my life (confirmation, graduation, etc) and that it was something that I could someday wear out to dinner with my husband.
The necklace was beautiful, but the reason behind it (my first "grownup" jewelry) stuck with me all these years... And yes, I do sometimes wear it out to dinner with my husband
What about a cute pair of wedge heels? I have been wearing heels or wedges since 13! It could be a compromise....and buying her 1st "adult" heeled shoes can be a great memory too!
Good Luck!
I loveeee the idea of a ring. When I was 13 I woul have felt so grown-up if I had received a nice peice of jewelry
If she really wants heels you could get her a really nice pair of classy heels with a nice outfit. Something to show her a nice way to wear them that you would approve of...??? I would be leary about spending a chunk of money on a nice peice of jewelry if I wasnt sure she would wear it...
