  • I'm putting a basket together for my daughter's caregiver.  I'm doing a movie rental gift card, some gourmet popcorn, sodas, and boxes of candy.  All total it's only about $10 or $15.

  • As a former daycare teacher I can say first hand that the ones I appreciated the most were gift cards.  It really is the thought that counts and I was always happy that parents thought of me to begin with.  But to be honest...gift cards are great, pictures of the kids are usually nice or you can sometimes find some cute teacher-y Christmas Ornaments.  Hope this helps!  Good Luck!

  • Another teacher chiming in with gift cards!  It is the thought that counts, but if you are going to spend money, a gift card is something that will really be more appreciated than a set of bath soaps, candy, ornament, mug, etc.  Unless you really know the teacher and her outside intrests, you can't go wrong with a gift card.  As far as amount, $20 (give or take) is about the average.

  • Both of my parents are teachers.  Gifts that were much appreciated:

    • gift cards
    • home baked treats
    • candy (especially for dad!)
    • Christmas decorations - many are up in their house every year

Other thoughts - a bottle of wine, a cozy throw, a magazine subscription, candles, a great book.

  • I give Visa gc's to dd's. Usually $50 to the main teacher and $25 each to the helpers.
  • Double check with the director that staff can accept gift or if there is a limit. The daycare I worked at did not allow staff to accept gifts or gratuities of any kind. It was a company policy and included people outside of the child care department as well.

  • My mom is a preschool teacher and she loves getting GF($20-25) to Starbucks, Kolhs, grocery stores, etc..
  • I'm a teacher and honestly GCs are the best gifts ever.  I've gotten more mugs, lotions, and knicknacks than I know what to do with.  While I definitely agree that it's the thought that counts, I like giving gifts that someone is really going to want and use such as a gift card to Starbucks, the mall, a restaurant, etc.  Usually the families in my class get together and all contribute to a gc to the mall, restaurants, a spa, or last year they did some research and found out where I get my hair done and got me a gc there which was amazing!!

  • As a former Pre-K teacher, please don't give a bath set or a mug.  I received so many I didn't know what to do with them.  All the teachers started to wonder if we smelled-lol.  A gc is wonderful choice!
