what sport do you wish you were good at?

It's a little slow in here. . . . let's get things moving.

So what sport are you not that great at, but wish you were?

I wish I could run.  I love the idea of it, just running and running til my legs/lungs give out. Seems so cathartic. But I suck at running. I couldn't make it to the end of my street.  And twice running has landed me in the ER from going into aniphilactic shock : (

I also wish I could play football. It'd be awesome to tackle someone.

Re: what sport do you wish you were good at?

  • Golf.  I do enjoy playing, but I've never been very good.  It would also be awesome to be good at basketball or football, but golf is more realistic I suppose. :):)
Causes that are important to me: Planned Pethood Graham's Foundation NOCC
  • Softball so that it wouldn't be so utterly embarrassing when I have to sub on my staff team.

Football, because I definitely want to know what it feels like to tackle someone/be tackled (with full pads, of course).

Both of these involve running, and that is certainly not my deal.  We would have to run miles in marching band, and it about killed me. Yes...marching band. We were in damn good shape!

This. Everytime I watch Remember the Titans I say this

I would also want to be good at some random sport they have in the Olympics, like Archery or Fencing lol

  • I would like to be good at golf, but have the DESIRE to run.
  • I've always longed to be a corner in the NFL.  Men are typically shocked to hear this since I'm all of 5'3".

For every day - tennis.  My backhand sucks!!!

  • I wish I was good at any sport. I would love to become a better runner and a better golfer. My H loves it and is fairly good at it. I am just embarrassed when I try to play.
  • Please don't take this wrong, because it will sound bratty, but I promise it isn't! Stick out tongue

I rock at pretty much every sport I try. EXCEPT golf. When I first started playing, someone had to tell me that no one was good at golf without practice (except Tiger that is!) I try, I am getting better, but I really expected the first time I picked up a club to be good. It sounds silly..oh well.

  • I wish I was half as good at sports in real life as I am in Wii Sports. I rock at Wii Bowling.
  • Haha, good question... I've never really thought about it, but I'd like to be good at tennis. Football would be cool too, since it would be pretty awesome to just lay out some dude who thinks he is tough sh*t, but not quite as practical as tennis :)

Hehe, I LOVE this answer! Tennis gets a little dangerous...we always hit each other with our backhands on accident. Good thing it's just our friends' Wii and we don't own one...

I am the EXACT same way. I can kick butt on the Wii...and wish I could do that in real life.

I wish I had the desire to run, too...I would absolutely love it, but I just don't have the drive to keep up with it.

I wish I could hoop, too. I used to play ball but then hit a growth spurt, had to sit out for a year because I transferred schools...and I lost it.

  • Hmmm, I played a year of college football way back when, in '97, Go Gators!

I'm a pretty good softball player, my golf handicap is a 10.3, and I was always able to dribble and shoot a basketball pretty well (dad played college, I was dribbling at age 3), I don't really play any sports that I'm not good at. But I'd love to be able to run faster and have a six pack! Have never had a six pack! Oh, and tennis, was never a good tennis player, but I don't really have the desire to play.

My wife can beat the crap out of me at Super Mario brothers 2 and 3 for the original nintendo, I'd like to do better at that, since I tend to win more at the current gaming systems when we play.

  • My answer is pretty similar to everyone else's...

I would love to know what it feels like to play football - and do it well.  My H played through college so I feel like I kind of know, but I am would love to know for myself.

I wish I had the desire to run...and, again, do well running.  I am starting the couch to 5k to see if I can get into running.  I used to have to run because someone was forcing it upon me (college soccer)...I am hoping that I will start to like it more since it is for me.

And I also wish I was good at golf.  Dh, my parents, and his parents all golf...and they all go golfing together.  If I go, I just walk along or ride in the cart.  I wish I was good at it so I could join them.  My dad has been trying to teach me to golf since I will very little.  I just don't have the hand-eye coordination.  :)

This. exactly. I pretty much stopped working out for almost 2 years after college soccer because it wasn't forced upon me - and I didn't HAVE to do it, plus my college coach was a major douche so I think I got some sort of satisfaction out of doing nothing...as weird as that may sound, but I am glad I got back into playing, the running...still working on

I had a douche bag for a college coach as well.  And a crazy biatch for HS.  Needless to say, I was burnt.out.  I have yet to start playing again (it's been 3 years or so).  Maybe someday I will get back into it, but I am taking a much needed break from soccer.

  • Tennis, I took lessons a couple of years ago but I didn't keep up with it so I think I lost all the knowledge.
  • tennis and golf- more of a chance to hang with the big dogs at work.
  • Tennis or golf.
  • Isn't this a really old post?
  • Probably tennis. There are courts all over the place here, and it's a great lifetime sport. Alas, I lack hand-eye coordination...

yes, I am not sure why people feel the need to test with posts on this board. I noticed it with one of my posts earlier this week. I guess they figure it is a slower board and they do not realize people view in post bump mode.

In any case, I have always wonder what it would be like to be a national team quality soccer player. All I want is one cap.
