Anyone live near the area? Or know someone who does?
I could possibly be transplanting there soon. From what I'm told it's a nice place to live!
Is the job market good? Neighboring towns ok? I'd like to know anything and everything about the area.
TIA!!
Re: Rock Hill, SC ???
I am originally from York, SC which is about 20 minutes west of Rock Hill, I now live in Union, SC (45 mins from R.H.). Rock Hill is growing quickly. However, the job market isn't great. You can access the local newspaper at www.heraldonline.com . Winthrop University is right in the center of Rock Hill, but the nightlife is mostly available in Charlotte. The mall isn't fabulous, but the shopping around the mall is pretty good... Target, Books-a-Million, TJ Maxx, etc. are very close to the mall area. The movie theatre is pretty nice. There are a few decent restaurants... our favorite sports bar is in R.H. Rock Hill school districts are pretty good. They have 3 high schools and tons of elementary schools.
As far as neighboring towns, York is pretty small and not really growing. Fort Mill is small, but BOOMING. Fort Mill is only around 15 minutes from Charlotte and 5 from Rock Hill.
If you have any more questions, I would be glad to help!!
Thanks ladies. I really appreciate it.
I'll know for sure on Monday if I'm leaving Chicago or not.
The only thing I'm concerned about is finding another job like my own. If I have to go back being a cashier or something, I'll take it. Can't be too picky these days!
Sounds like it's a great area to live. Hopefully I'd get used to the super humid weather and lack of snow!
I live about 20 minutes from Rock Hill but in the same county. If you do look into moving look into York, Clover, Fort Mill and Tega Cay as well as Rock Hill. Would your job be in Rock Hill? If your job is actually in Charlotte, NC you will want to take commuting into consideration. From York it can be 45mins to an hour to get to Charlotte without traffic. Fort Mill and the Tega Cay area would be about 20 minutes to parts of Charlotte.I am not sure about the Job Market it has it's ups and downs depending on your field.
SO's job is in Rock Hill.
Hopefully I'd find one myself relatively close. Currently I commute 30 miles one way for my job here.
