As some of you might remember, I shot my first wedding at the end of October.
There were a lot of shots I wasn?t happy with and a lot of the ?key? shots came out uber dark so you might see a few that are a little ?off? with the exposure. I had to lighten the bejeezus out of a few just so to get the shots in there ie the bridesmaids on the stairs, the bride walking down the stairs/aisle with her dad etc. I had always shot ?auto? until that day and had the bright idea of going with AP, even though I had no experience shooting in that mode. Shall I use ?baby-brain? as an excuse lol?
I usually like to get down on the ground and shoot too and had to resort to laying on my side as my baby bump is too big haha. Oh and trying to get back up again was akin to watching a turtle trying to flip off it?s back, I?m sure it was quite a sight to behold. Anyway, gotta say, I think shooting a wedding is hard work physically and mentally and I was wiped by the end of the night and sore for a few days afterward! I think being 7 mths preggers didn?t help.
I can?t WAIT to know how to use PS properly! Anyway, enough babbling, here's the link lol...

Re: AW: My First Wedding Shoot Slideshow
They turned out great!
I would love to get more into photography...I feel so overwhelmed with all the features of my new camera.

Those are fantastic!!! Congratulation!!! It doesn't look like your first wedding. Very impressive
You took great shots, definitely captured a lot of great moments
Beautiful wedding too!
As for the darker pictures, you might want to check out Adobe Lightroom. I was recommended this software by a photographer for post-processing and it does wonders. You can lighten up the pictures (by increasing exposure or brightness) without making the dark areas light. I have both Photoshop and Lightroom and I've used Photoshop for way longer but Lightroom is specifically made for photo-processing, where Photoshop is made for graphics and photos and it's actually harder to achieve the same effects with Photoshop than with Lightroom. If you want me to show you a sample (like lighten one of your pictures as an example), I'd be happy to.
Great pictures TIna! I always love bridal pics where the bride is standing in a window so that one is my favorite.
Are you going to be doing alot of weddings, or was this a favor for a friend?

Thank you everyone!
Inamra, I have heard good things about Lightroom. Will check it out! I have CS2 at the moment.
I was able to somewhat rescue the dark photos I pointed out in the slideshow but I still see the noise and that they're not the best, exposure-wise. I am stumbling my way around Photoshop and still don't know exactly what I am doing just yet...I don't even work with layers or masks or anything, I need to learn all that!
Terri, this wedding was for a friend but I did charge her a small amount so I guess it was a mix between a favour/booking. However, after we paid for the motel and all that jazz, we broke even with what we charged her so, in the end, the fee I charged her paid for our accommodation/petrol expenses lol!
I DO want to eventually start my own photography business. I may have 2 more weddings lined up next year and 2011 and a couple of family portrait gigs so things are slowly starting to happen. I have a hell of a lot to learn technically, photoshop-wise and business-wise but I'm slowly teaching myself!
Chika, I really like the teary bridesmaid one too. I go "Awwww!" everytime I see that shot. At that particular moment on the day, she made ME teary! I had to turn away after I took the shots and recompose myself lol.
Yeah, I know that feeling. Grab your camera one night and sit on your couch and go through the manual, have a play with the camera as you go through it. Sounds boring I know but it's actually not too bad once you immerse yourself into it and start figuring out what/where everything is.
I'm doing an online course by an aussie photog called Sheye Rosenmeyer (the one who's blog I have posted here a couple of times...who lost her daughter Ava) and that is one of the tasks she is having us undertake.
When I actually started to go through the manual, the other night, I was all "AHA! So THAT'S how I turn my flash off!" etc etc.
It feels good to have a handle of how to use your camera and it's features! It feels even better when you learn about aperture settings, ISO settings and the like too. Makes you feel like you are in control of how good your photos turn out. I am still fumbling around with all the settings but getting there!
Thanks Amy! Their wedding was in a region of Victoria called the Dandenong Ranges, which is a breathtakingly beautiful area filled with B&B's and hiking trails etc. http://www2.visitmelbourne.com.au/displayobject.cfm/objectid.00025455-fc9f-1eca-a18380c476a900aa/vvt.vhtml
I swear, my lungs seemed like they were enchanted with breathing the air when we were there, it's so fresh and pure!
