Poll: Who's cooking do you like better

Your family's or your H's family's cooking?

Confession: We're having thanksgiving at my IL's (my parents are coming over also) and part of me is kind of bummed my mommy isn't doing any cooking this year.

Her Thanksgiving cooking rocks my world. MIL means well and does ok. Tongue Tied

Re: Poll: Who's cooking do you like better

  • H cooks fantastic in a healthier way.  My parents cook ok, but some dishes are TDF.

Sorry mommy and daddy but I gotta say H on this one.  (ILs aren't an option for me)

  • the ILs cook a fantastic traditional thanksgiving dinner.  when you come to my family's gatherings, you get a crazy mishmash of foods ranging from turkey to lumpia to pansit to ham.  and with vegetarians and vegans now in my immediate family, well...

    i prefer the ILs'.

  • My mom doesn't cook anymore, I've taken over for her. While I liked what she used to make, I think I like the ILs spread better. And when I say "ILs" I actually mean the several aunts and cousins that all contribute large dishes so we have enough to feed the 40+ people we have at holiday gatherings. :)
  • I love my family's. IL are an interesting hodge podge of some traditional foods, but mainly curries etc. The food's good, but I like traditions
  • I like my own cooking better but never have the option since my mom insists on cooking every year.  The IL's are on the east coast so we never get to spend the holidays with them.

DH hates my mom's gravy and she also does a mishmash along with the traditional.  We will have shrimp with snowpeas next to the corn.

  • I haven't had Thanksgiving with family in over a decade.
  • When I did Thanksgiving with my family, I normally did a good part of the cooking (traditionally we had turkey wars every year - my turkey in the oven, my stepdad's on the grill, it was actually a lot of fun). I don't mind his family's cooking... it's just different.

  • I like my DH's family cooking much better; although my dad makes the BEST chicken adobo

  • I've never had an in-law dinner. My H's parents are divorced, and we've typically had Thanksgiving at my parents', since they pull out all the stops.

I think my mom is a pretty good cook, we have all the standards.

  • My family never cooks.

My ILs don't use enough salt when they cook.

  • I wish it was a mix of both to balance each other out.  I don't like H's family's apple stuffing and they use too much seasoning.  My family doesn't use enough seasoning and has gross dry vegitables.
