**Mrs.DMC**

Noticed you went to Breckenridge for your honeymoon.

DH and I are going there in December for some skiing.

Any recommendations on restaurants/site seeing/ etc in Denver/Breck?

Re: **Mrs.DMC**

  • You will love Breck. It's very hip and lots of younger people hang out there. Such a neat place.

For restaurants in Breck we would suggest Steak and Rib, and Salt Creek, those were defintly the best. Dont bother with the Top of the World Restaurant at Breck ski Lodge. It was recommended in a travel guide and we were so dissappointed. In Denver try Sullivans Steakhouse, that was fabulous.

Our favorite excursion was snowmobling. We used this company who picked us up from our front step. The tour takes you up into the Great Divide which was absolutly breathtaking. Snowmobiling was a blast and that was by far our favorite day. http://www.snowmobilecolorado.com/

We also went snowtubing in Frisco which was pretty fun. We spent a day at a spa and did couples massages. If you dont do anything esle....definitly do the snowmobiling...it was worth every minute and we wanted to go back and do it again.

If you need any suggestions on transportation where to ski, or where to stay, let me know....we stayed in a perfect ideal spot, that was very nice and reasonably priced. Have fun...you will love it.

  • Hey thanks so much - would have responded sooner but the internet went out last night *grr*

Snowmobiling sounds so much fun. Thanks for the recommendation i'm sure we'll sign up for that. Did you guys each do your own or did 1 ride passenger? Is it easy?

We've got our flights, rental house and car rental - we got snow stuff...(pants,jackets goggles,) I just wish I owned more "winter" clothes.

Thanks for the food recs too...any good breakfast/lunch places you can think of ?

  • We were going to rent a car but ended up using the Colorado Mountain Express to get to Breck. Once you are in Breck there is a free city bus service that will take you everywhere you need to go. You may want to look into that. That worked great for us because our condo was on Main Street. The main bus station was right behind our place.

We each got our own snowmobile. You can do doubles though. It is very easy, easier than waverunners! So much fun, I wanna go again!!!

Dont stress about winter clothes too much. We wasted to so much money trying to make sure we had the right stuff and never even wore some of it. I think February(when we went) is the coldest part of the year and there were a few days that I only wore a long sleeved T shirt and a fleece pullover. If the sun is out it's not that cold, even though its 20 degrees! There was only two nights that I had to wear long johns under my jeans. Underneath our snow stuff we just wore long johns, that was plenty warm enough.(Target sells them and should have them out by the time you go) One day I wore lj's and a pair of sweatpants underneath and was too hot. When you are up on the mountain you're workin, ya know!

All the ski areas have breakfast/lunch places that are good and there was a place called Empire Burger that was good. For breakfast we ate at Daylight Donuts, it was good too.

Just remember to drink lots of water when you are there...like 10 times the amount you drink here. Altitude sickness is no good. The first day we were in Breck I was so tired and could not catch my breath...that got better after a few days. When we go back, I will definitly make sure I am at the top of my game in the cardio dept.

Oh, I forgot....we also went on a sleighride. That was fun and romantic. That night was frigid cold though. I am not sure I would recommend that though. It was $50/person and all you do is sit there for a hour. In hindsight, we should of went snowmobiling again!

  • Here is a good website for some dining suggestions...

    http://www.breckenridgediningguide.com/

The ones I mentioned to you were all on mainstreet. We ate at Downstairs at Erics and we liked that. Salt Creek was definitly our fav...we ate there a few times and there is a fun Irish pub up stairs from it.

  • ooh more links! Thanks!!

I'm not tooo worried about clothing. i just have a ton of long sleeved shirts and want to get sweaters (i get cold easy - the air will turn on in the house and it will be 74 and i'll get a blanket haha).

i just hate florida sweaters, they are warm here but go somewhere with snow and forget it, they're worthless.

  • I got most of our stuff at Old Navy, Gap, and Gap Outlet. Another great place to look is the Colombia Outlet at the Prime Outlets(the old Bealls outlet) We got our snow stuff there and it was pretty cheap. They have alot of comfortable fleece pullovers that are good and warm.

If I can think of more things we did I will let you know. I will have to look at the pictures to spark my brain that seems to be absent lately.
