Does anyone use bareMinerals makeup? Thinking about all my dry skin problems, I think I finally figured out when it all started - it was when I switched my makeup a few months ago. I think it was really drying my face out and causing my problems. Just in case you are curious, it was Neutrogena's Mineral Sheers.
So, fast-forward to today, after reading a lot of reviews online, I went to Ulta and bought the bareMinerals starter kit. The lady at Ulta helped me and applied the makeup on me. I instantly loved it! It so smooth and soft looking. I don't feel like I have makeup on either.
I was just wondering how many others are using it and what are your likes and dislikes about it?
Re: bareMinerals
I use it and I love it. I also have the starter kit. I love how light it feels, how it stays on and binds to my skin without feeling cakey. I have freckles and it seams to blend and even out my skin tone very well. I also love the eye shadow and it's so pretty. One of my favorite things is that it is sooo easy to apply.
I dont think I have any dislikes about it.
I dont wear makeup everyday infact I probably only wear it a few times a week. I bought the kit back in December and there is still so much left so that is cool. Ohhh, and I used to use the Neutragena sheers....Bare Minerals is sooo much better.
Good luck with it.
I've used BE for over 6 years now, so as you might guess - I love it! Someone else mentioned the dust, which is so true. lol My make up bag is a mess, too!
My only real dislike about it is that it doesn't photograph well. Definitely a big no-no if you are going to be in a wedding or attending an event where you will be photographed often. I switch to either Clinique liquid foundation or Palladio powder foundation for such events. (the later is very similar to Oil of Olay's old power foundation if you ever used that. It used to be my holy grail before being discontinued!)
I like bare minerals and dont have any problems with photographs while wearing it? Why does it look bad in photos? I think their mineral veil is their best product.
I have found that I like the ProMinerals line from Serious Skin Care (from HSN) better than bare minerals, and the size of containers is like double. I think it applies better to my skin and doesnt seep into lines and wrinkles as much. I have some issues with bare minerals doing that.
If you are having dry skin problems still be careful with applying too many new products to your skin at once. My derm said that can aggrevate skin problems more.
Mrs P...the starter kit is like $65. It includes the brushes, foundation, mineral veil, a bronzer and instructional dvd. It is a great deal and if you do want to use the product it is the best way to buy it.
Whately....I have heard people complain about that before. I guess the minerals in the powder can sometimes reflect light. I have a friend who has an olive skin tone and when I see pictures of her in dark places with a high flash she does look very pale. I have fair skin and I dont think pictures of me look washed out like that. I think it depends on your skin tone and the lighting where the pic is taken. It is no different than than makeup with SPF in it.
The titanium dioxide in BE can make you look pale, shiny, and/or washed out in photographs. There's quite a few discussions about it over at the BE Addicts message board (beaddicts.com). There's a professional make up artist on the board that highly recommends not using any mineral make up for special occasions for that reason. Unfortunately, I'm in the group of people that can't wear it in photographs.
