Donor Success?

We are planning to try for our first trip to the bank (wink) a few months after the wedding. How many of you ladies have had good luck with it? I'm a bit nervous about our odds. we can't wait to start our familySmile

Re: Donor Success?

  • Welcome!

There are quite a few pregnant ladies on here and some moms by donors - so it does work.

We have 3.5y old twin boys via annonymous donor.  For us it took 9 tries (2 natural ICIs and 7 IUIs) - so it was a long process, but oh so worth it.

     Good luck!

  • We were very fortunate to get pregnant on our third try with frozen donor sperm from a bank. I was also on clomid, though, because I don't ovulate regularly on my own. Good luck!

IUI #3 gave us the best 2nd anniv. gift ever: 2 babies! (born 03/09/10)

  • We got pg twice with frozen donor sperm. ( 1 mc - 1 baby) That was with injectable hormone therapy.

It is a big and suprisingly stressful choice to pick your perfect match. Have fun hunting and good luck!

  • We got pregnant 2 of 3 tries with frozen donor sperm.  BFP #1 was a chemical pregnancy but the second BFP is due in April :-)

  • We were lucky enough to get pregnant with frozen donor sperm from our very first unmedicated IUI.

As far as the "odds" - it is said the average length of time to get pregnant using frozen donor sperm is 6 cycles/months.  So for many, it takes less time than that, and for many it takes longer.  It's all a mix of timing and sheer luck! Smile

  • And I might add, 6 months isn't that far off from the average time it takes to get pregnant via just having sex.  Only teenagers in the back seats of cars seem to get pregnant the first time.
