Belterra Hotel & Casino

I was researching French Lick hotel & casino for our annivesary trip per That-girl-lola's idea.  But, their poker room is closed and they aren't sure when it will be open...and since DH is an avid poker player....that's out.

So, I started looking at Belterra.  The rooms are way cheaper in price than French Lick, they seem to have a good variety of food, and they have both a poker room and penny slots.

What do you think about Belterra?  Are the rooms nice, are the restaurants good, is the casino fun and clean?  Any tips?

Re: Belterra Hotel & Casino

  • Belterra is OK.  Not nearly what French Lick is like in terms of charm, things to do in the area, history, glamour, etc.... but if poker rooms are a must, then Belterra is your next best option.  (Unless you head up to the new Indian casino in Michigan, hear that's great)  Anyway, if you stay at Belterra, make sure you request a room in the OLD tower.  Pay extra if you have to.  Their rooms are much nicer and have the very "Vegas" feel- TVs in the bathroom, extra plush beds, etc.  Although, I haven't been able to get their old tower lately 'cause I think they save that for their high rollers  (I visit the casinos for work conferences, but don't really gamble, so I'm certainly not a high roller)  There is a state park, sorry I forget which one, and some really beautiful Ohio River scenery nearby if you want to take a day trip.  Or, you can always visit Madison for some cut shopping and really neat history. I think one of the routes actually take you through there- maybe you could do lunch on your way in or somethimg?  They've got some incredible Federal Architecture if you're at all interested. Have fun no matter where you go!
  • Sorry... just read you aren't nature people in the original post... scratch that whole state park thing!  Have fun.
