Hotel Recs
I am booking a special getaway for H and I and we live in the LA area. I was thinking somewhere close by, maybe Santa Monica?? We just moved here, so any insider tips on great spots that are affordable (if I can even say that in relation to SoCal..lol) would be much appreciated. Thanks

I love the idea of having a vacation in town. I've always wanted to stay at the Georgian in Santa Monica - it's a funky art deco hotel right near the water. They have decent prices... depending on what you want to spend.
For our wedding, we stayed at the Biltmore Hotel downtown - it has a lot of history, and is right across the street from Pershing Square (which has an ice skating rink this time of year).
