Have you ever had missionaries come to your door?

Last night we were eating dinner and 2 young guys in suits came to our door from LDS. They must have been no older than 20. Had we not been eating, I would have invited them in. I enjoy a good religious debate, and I'm very curious as to what their teachings are and how they would deal with people like us (agnostic).

  • i have, and i don't typically have time/patience for it.  i just send them on their merry way.

  • Not recently, but when when theyhave in the past- I just tell them that we're very active in our church (which is a half lie- because we go to church but aren't active per say) and I'm not intrested in hearing anything else but thanks.. and God bless..  <batting eyelashes>

They've left us alone after that. Which I've appreciated.

  • Yes. They frequently came when I was with XH. (He was a non practicing Mormon). They were usually very nice (about 20-22 is when most men get their calling for a mission). Typically they would help out with things X might have needed an extra set of hands for or just hang out with him and chat. (He thought it was nice to offer a place where they could relax and not push religion)
  • oh, and the ones that have come to the door have been hot.

    haha!

Um yes, I would say this was the case!

I am definitely not interested in LDS. I guess I should just be a straight shooter the next time they come around.

  • Yes but it's been years.  I know that they are not allowed to come inside a house if it is just one woman.  I guess there has been some problems in the past.

My whole dad's side of the family is Mormon and we are the black sheep of the family though they don't treat us like it at all.  They have never talked to us about it and they are all very involved (maybe we are a lost cause).  I have never found them pushy though the local Mormons in my parents town do try to stop by but my parents won't answer the door.
