My baby had the hiccups today :)

It was honestly a bizarre feeling and I was wondering what in the world was going on!  He hiccuped for almost 45 minutes straight, and my stomach would jerk side to side when he did it...poor baby :)

Re: My baby had the hiccups today :)

  • That happened to my girlfriend a couple of times.  He actually had the hiccups less than 1 hour after he was born.  It was actually very sad.  But funny.
  • I told Maddy that Zach had the hiccups, and I explained he was swallowing the fluid that he's floating in...she was super grossed out.  "EWWW!  HE *PEES* IN THERE, MOMMY!"

    Hehe.

  • Cool, I cant wait to feel that. I have been getting mad hiccups lately!
  • Haha- it's so cute at first!! They were a little annoying at 3a.m., though- but, sweet anyway! :)

  • Ok, 45 views in like 5 minutes has to be a bug with the nest, right?  Or are people that curious about Zach's hiccups?

On topic, I loved it when Ava had the hiccups!  I didn't feel her move that often, I think because I had an anterior placenta, so I liked feeling the hiccups.  I felt so bad for her when she had them after she was born though, even though it doesn't bother them, supposedly.  Ava was so slim that her entire chest and stomach would contract and it looked very uncomfortable.

  • Isn't it the oddest feeling. I felt like Taylor constantly had the hiccups from about 30 weeks on.
  • Wow!  Must be a weird feeling.  Just another thing to look forward to.  lol
  • I'm sure that was weird!  Rylie never had the hiccups in utero, so I never got to experience that "fun".  She had them ALL THE TIME the first few months of her life, though.  I felt so sorry for her.  Like Ava, her whole chest and stomach would jump.

  • Aww that's sweet! :-)

I can't even imagine how that feels...

  • You know. . . hiccups were probably my #1 question while working in the NICU.  Parents would see these little preemies hiccup and freak out!  I would constantly get asked "what's that?!?"

And Brooke - you are right!  When they are real little (especially preemies) their entire chest does contract in.  So I bet it does look very scary to parents.  So many parents were genuinely surprised to hear that this strange phenomenon was just hiccups.   Stick out tongue
