Poll: Christmas Newsletter

Do any of you include any kind of Christmas Newsletter with your Christmas Cards?  What do you put in it?

I did last year, but I feel like the only thing we would put in the newsletter is "we got married" - which everyone already knows.

I've seen this from some of my friends and honestly I kinda laugh at it. If you're sending out Christmas cards to people you never see, it might be appropriate, but for us, our life is all over FB, so there isn't really a need to recap it in a newsletter.

Personally, I really don't like the "Christmas Newsletter."  My Mom and Stepdad do one every year, and every year, they hurt someone's feelings.  I'm sure they don't try, but they do it every year.  For example, they have 2 kids each.  His 2 kids each had kids earlier this year (the first born for each).  DH and I got married (obviously).  What will they have to say about my sister?  Probably not much, which will hurt her feelings.

But maybe I'm not the one to ask... I don't even like writing personal messages in cards.  That's why I do the photo cards - you can't write on them even if you wanted to!

we did one last year to announce that we got engaged (happened the week before Thanksgiving so not everyone knew by Christmastime)- not sure about this year.  We might do it just so we can send out some photos to people.

I honestly think the holiday "newsletter" is kind of tacky. My ILs do it and I cringe that I'm even mentioned in one! (Last year it was in verse...) My feeling is unless something big happened that the important people in your life somehow don't know about... there's really no reason. People just don't care that much about the minutiae. We get ones that talk about how Mr. Smith took a business trip to Kalamazoo, and Johnny got three new badges in Boy Scouts... really? Don't need to know. Send me a cute photo so I can ooh and aww over how big your kids are getting, or your new puppy that's fine. But pleeeease no newsletters.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of them.  But I know my mom and aunts get really excited when they get their Christmas Newsletter from our extended family in PA every year.  I guess it's up to individual taste.

hhmm, I think I'll have to do one of these! I've never heard of or seen one.                    

I really liked making the Brides maids newsletters but, a Christmas one would be allot more fun. I am thinking I'll just put in a little greeting, family photo, and a announcment of our wedding with a little reminder to check out our wedding site before I shut it down.

Eww...the Christmas newsletter is the butt of many jokes for a reason...just my opinion...but yuck. Just say no!

Speaking of christmas newsletters...I got my first one in the mail yesterday. They only sent a letter, not even a photo of the two of them. The entire thing was written in 3rd person, very weird.
