I was reading an article about 7 easy dinner recipes and Taco Spaghetti was on there. Anyone ever have it? Would you make it? I'm on the fence about it. I think it could either be really good or really bad...
Here's the article:
A unique hybrid that combines the quintessential dishes of Mexico and Italy into one family-friendly feast, this hearty meal's easy preparation and cupboard-friendly ingredients make it perfect for college students. Keep things fresh and healthy with a fruity side dish.
Best-ever Christmas cookie ideas:
ingredients
- 5 ounces packaged dried spaghetti, linguine, or fettuccine, broken
- 1 pound ground beef or ground raw turkey
- 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 of a 1-1/4-ounce envelope (2 tablespoons) taco seasoning mix
- 1 11-ounce can whole kernel corn with sweet peppers, drained
- 1 cup sliced pitted ripe olives
- 1 cup shredded Cojack or cheddar cheese (4 ounces)
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1 4-ounce can diced green chilies, drained
- 6 cups shredded lettuce
- 1 cup broken tortilla chips
- 1 medium tomato, cut into thin wedges
- Dairy sour cream (optional)
directions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta; rinse with cold water. Drain again.
- In a 12-inch skillet cook ground beef or turkey and onion until meat is brown. Drain fat. Stir in water and taco seasoning. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in cooked pasta, corn, olives, half of the shredded cheese, the salsa, and chilies.
- Transfer mixture to a lightly greased 2-quart round casserole. Cover and bake in a 350 degree F oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Serve with shredded lettuce, tortilla chips, and tomato wedges. If desired, top with sour cream. Makes 6 main-dish servings.

Re: Taco Spaghetti?
Im usually up to try anything, but this sounds a little bit more ghetto then Hot dogs cut up in mac in cheese! ACK!
Sorry, I just cant get into this recipe, and I usually will give anything a try
Hot dogs and mac n' cheese... reminds me of college days!
Hell, my husband will eat anything. I will try it and let you guys know how it is.
hahah oh man...I totally hear ya Sheri, there are still some ghetto dishes I cant let go of....Fried bologna being one. Growing up on government cheese will do that to a girl
I had a very bad inncedent with cut up hot dogs and mac and cheese at a babysitters house though...so its a no go for me.
Karrey - He sounds like Mikey! Remember those commericals??
Sheri - I grew up eating hot dogs and eggs if it makes you feel any better. I still make it every once and awhile.
Ditto.
Not saying I wouldn't try it, but I'm just not sure I could get past having a hybrid of two different foods like that.
Seriously, this combo got me through my first few months of pregnancy.
is all I have to say! LOL.
