Getting my name on our Chicago condo deed
Hi:
I haven't posted anything on here in about three years but remember how people on these knot message boards knew everything about anything going on in the Chicago area. So I got married three years ago and have never got around to putting my name on the deed to our condo (which my husband bought before we got married). Anyone know what I need to do to get this done? I have some forms from the city and county but I'm not sure what I should be filling out.
TIA.
Re: Getting my name on our Chicago condo deed
I just recently put my husband on the deed because I owned it before we got married and I contacted the lawyer that drew up the deed in the first place and he took care of all it for us. I believe he had to Prepare the Deed to have both of your names on it and then filed it with Chicago and then he had to send in forms to Chicago to change the names on the title as well. As for doing it yourself, I cannot help you. My advice would be to contact the lawyer that was present during his purchase.
